The only thing worse than chapped lips? Sticky, waxy lips. S.W. Basics all-natural balm soothes dry, cracked mouths without depositing tacky residue or excess shine. Packed in a cute tin with four delicious scents (Peppermint, Cocoa, Cinnamon, and Citrus), the beeswax-based line-up has a salve to suit any mood.
This chapstick has all the ingredients you would want in a chapstick but misses the big mark. I received the cinnamon one in my Snow Day box and thought I was going to love it but instead I don't. The smell of it after you put it on starts to give you a headache and it never soaks it. It stays greasy on your lips. I had to eventually wipe it off. Perhaps a different scent would have a different outcome.1
I got this in my Birchbox and was really happy that it was a full size sample! And who doesn't love and need lip balm!? However, the flavor and scent was cocoa and it was terrible! I hated it every time I used it, it made me sick.1
I really liked the idea of a beeswax-based lip balm, but these were a huge disappointment. One tube completely crumbled the first time I tried to use it, another is so liquidy that it "melts" all over the tube when I use it, a third is hard and feels like I'm scraping skin off my lips instead of trying to moisturize. The fourth is okay consistensy wise, but the combination of the strong cocoa smell with lemon is somewhat off-putting. I'll keep looking for a product that actually works.1
They work as far as moisturizing, but I really can't stand the smell. Makes me want to vomit. The taste is terrible too. I put it on before brushing my teeth so I can exfoliate my lips with the brush when I'm done, and I can barely stand to use it for that.
Maybe a scent other than the Cocoa would be tolerable, but I highly recommend you pick something else.
I bought this because everyone just talked about how amazing it was. Let me start off by saying it smells so bad you can't taste it! Worst smelling chapstick I have ever used! I spent 15 bucks on this and they all pretty much went in the trash! I offered them to my mom and she even didn't want them because they smelt SO BAD!!1
I was really happy to get a full sized sample, but I just don't like the scent at all... the citrus smells like a mix of cocoa butter and oranges, a very heavy smell. I love that it's organic! Unfortunately, if it was left in a hot room I think it would turn to liquid. The consistency is too soft.1
I got the Citrus sample. Not a big fan. Once putting it on I kept tasting something similar to bug spray. Lasted about 5 minutes and wiped it all off. Maybe the other scents are better.1
Has a bad, bitter taste- isn't smooth- feels a little gritty on your lips... but the smell was the worst, like a strong, rotten cocoa butter smell.1
The lip balm didn't stay on very long. I kept having to re-apply several times throughout the day. The texture wasn't appealing to me at all...it was too slick, if that makes sense. I got the peppermint sample but quite honestly there were times when I wondered if it wasn't chocolate mint because I could smell both of them...and the odor wasn't pleasant to me at all. I like to try all the samples until they are gone just to make sure they won't grow on me and I'm sorry to say I ended up throwing this lip balm away...mostly because of the smell.1
I got this in my birch box and as a lover of a good balm I was excited. Unfortunately when I put it on it had an after scent I just couldn't stand so I gave it to my niece.1
