Here’s a quick lesson in skincare history: In West Africa, traditional black soap is made by mixing the ash and barks of local plants with healing oils. Rich in vitamins A and E, it’s become prized by women around the world for its abilities to battle blemishes and the signs of skin aging. This rich cleansing and exfoliating bar from Shea Terra Organics is the real deal. Made with USDA-certified organic ingredients, it retains all the medicinal benefits of the original African soap.
I bought this once when I needed to get my order amount higher to get some free stuff. Omg, best $8 ever. I have since bought an additional one and another for a friend. I haven't had a breakout since I started using it on my face. I started using it on entire body since I started getting breakouts on my back. This cleared those RIGHT up. The soap has natural exfoliants so using a loofah isn't necessary. Be warned though, because the suds are brown, your shower might start looking ickier sooner. But it was always icky, you just didn't notice. Buy this soap; clean your tub more often.5
I love this soap. When I say that it changed my life, it really changed my life. I was struggling with adult on-set acne on my lower jawline that was constantly inflamed and painful. I purchased this with some Birchbox points, and I am floored at how amazing this works. I have had maybe one small breakout since using this daily, and that was due to hormone fluctuations! Keeps my skin so soft and smooth, I really cannot say enough about this and plan on buying it for Christmas for all of my family members.5
But good nonetheless. I would get it again with my points but I doubt I spend money on it. It's kinda pricey.3
I love this product. It gives the nice firm feeling of renewed skin. It also leaves your skin soft and helps remove those pesky pimples! Just make sure that you don't have an allergic reaction to it. I had one about the first week every time I used it but after that it seemed to stop and my skin got used to the fine ingredients. Definitely recommend!!5
This bar of soap is a great exfoliator. However, be warned it may actually scratch you! The grit in this bar of soap can be so harsh that you'll actually end up with scratches.3
didn't get rid of my acne or prevent it and smelled bad. left my skin very dry without getting rid of my acne2
this bar soap is very rough and does not smell that good. It also leaves your tub looking dirty so you have to rinse your tub after each use. My skin did however feel pretty smooth after using it but it was just too messy and i ended up throwing away. But if you like bar soap, dove has excellent bar soap that leaves your skin smelling amazing and super soft!3
This soap is absolutely fantastic! I have tried so many things to help me with my adult acne none have worked until I tried this soap! I wash my face with this soap in the a.m. and p.m. daily and I have seen a dramatic reduction in my acne. I also recently started taking the soap to the shower and using it on my sun damaged decolletage area and a darkened skin area under one of my arms. The redness and bumps on my decolletage area are nearly gone and my dark area under my arm has lightened. I love, love, love this soap and you will too!5
It helped with my back acne but it does turn your entire shower black.4
When I turned thirty, I started suddenly getting new, different breakouts. Deep, cystic pimples that hurt. I did a little research, and everyone recommended African Black Soap as the cure. They were right.
It took two weeks or so, but not only did this soap clear my breakouts, but it is also slowly making the scars fade. I wash my face with this at night and Derma E's Hydrating Scrub in the morning. The black soap is a little drying for my already oily skin, which is why I use the Hydrating scrub in the morning. With this routine, my face is finally starting to calm down.
Be aware: Do follow the instructions on the box and leave the lather on your face for a few minutes. Be very careful not to get this soap in your eyes, that hurts like crazy. There might be a week or two of adjustment. Don't give up!
