Here’s a quick lesson in skincare history: In West Africa, traditional black soap is made by mixing the ash and barks of local plants with healing oils. Rich in vitamins A and E, it’s become prized by women around the world for its abilities to battle blemishes and the signs of skin aging. This rich cleansing and exfoliating bar from Shea Terra Organics is the real deal. Made with USDA-certified organic ingredients, it retains all the medicinal benefits of the original African soap.
I ordered this soap and I cannot describe how great my skin feels already after just a few uses. I can see my blemishes shrinking and my skin tone already looks more even and healthier! Could be a little harsh on sensitive skin but just don't use it as a "mask" as recommended. I highly recommend this soap to anyone with problem skin like myself.5
I don't really know how to describe it it wasn't drying but it wasn't moisturizing. It seems to do a OK job but I honestly haven't been about to use it enough to judge it completely.4
The only drawback on this soap is that you cannot leave it in the shower unless you have a soap cover. It will drip brown soap all down your tub. The upside is that your skin feels clean and over time brighter as in healthier. I probably will not buy it again because it was a tad too expensive and it didnt last long.4
I am in love with this soap bar! I have always had a hard time with breakouts and had tried so many different expensive products that just didn't help my skin. My mom got a sample of this in her birchbox and suggested that I try it. Now I can't be without it! To anyone saying that it's too abrasive: wet your hands and wipe the bar on your hands, then wipe the products off of your hands and onto your face. DO NOT apply the bar directly to your face! At first I thought this product was making me breakout; however, with repeated use, I realized it was just releasing all of the impurities from my pores. I used it for at least two months before it kept my skin clear daily. Be patient babes!5
I LOVE this product! May be a little rough on skin, but totally worth it. I used it to get rid of blemishes on my legs. It only took a week for them to be gone. Worth it!5
I use this soap about 3 times a week, and each time I use it I feel my pores tighten and disappear and spots fade. I love this on my skin! Yes, the smell is not the best of any African Black Soap, however the results are definitely worth it.5
I bought this b/c I'm trying to use more organic products but this was not for me. It was too rough and my skin was red w/ tiny little scrapes.2
I had never tried African black soap before and was excited to try it. My roommate gets the type from the local store and hates that it stains her washcloths. I did not have that problem with this product. It seemed to work pretty well. I would've prepared a better scent but it was fun to try regardless.4
This soap is fantastic. Leaves my face soft n smooth. My face feels so clean!! Also leaves my hands feeling soft n younger looking. Will not be without this soap again!!5
It's way too harsh for my face. It wasn't too bad for my body, but it smells like cigarette butts (literally). It's also really messy. There are much better soaps for less money that are just as beneficial for the skin. It was very interesting to try, though.2
