Here’s a quick lesson in skincare history: In West Africa, traditional black soap is made by mixing the ash and barks of local plants with healing oils. Rich in vitamins A and E, it’s become prized by women around the world for its abilities to battle blemishes and the signs of skin aging. This rich cleansing and exfoliating bar from Shea Terra Organics is the real deal. Made with USDA-certified organic ingredients, it retains all the medicinal benefits of the original African soap.
But it is messy to keep in the shower, and having to keep it on your skin for a few minutes is a little hard to do especially when I am in a hurry in the morning.4
I purchased this impulsively with my saved up points ...what drew me to this product was the promise of healing broken out skin. I took the advice from others and the product box, I didn't apply directly to my skin. I lathered up the soap bar in my hands and used the soap as a mask (Also, a little bit goes a long way on my skin) ...within three days I saw a drastic improvement to the breakouts on my face. I had been broken out from a medication that I take and nothing seemed to calm it down. I ordered this soap and some tea tree oil just in case. I have not had to use the oil -- only this African Black Soap! I love it and will definitely consider purchasing it again if need be.4
Just received soap couple of day ago, so I was excited about the raving reviews. The first time I lather my skin, it felt clean and refreshed. I used this on my face as well, but I made sure I read on the box where it says to use your hands and not put the soap on your face.
It left my face super clean and tight, but I would recommend using a moisturizer since this product removes all oils from your face. No negative feedback, but the soap can be a little mess when using it. You might want to spray shower out or it will leave brown color. I like the soap and plan on purchasing again after I use this one.
i was very impressed with this soap. it lasts for a long time and it is very effective. it cleared my skin and kept it clear.5
I purchased this product because my skin was irritated by the soaps I have been buying recently. Since using this product my skin has had fewer problems and is feeling softer! I would purchase this again.4
Perfect for daily use. I've used it as an exfoliant with a loofa, for shaving and on my face. Smell is a little odd but doesn't linger. Keep in as dry of a place as possible, you get more use of the bar when it dries after use.5
I bought this for my teenage son. He has problems with blemishes and blackheads and we've tried so many other products. He's been using this for the last week or so and I've seen an improvement in his skin. He has fewer blemishes and the overall feel to his skin is better. He said he feels the need to moisturize after using the bar, and he's not thrilled about the scent, but he's pleased with the results.4
I really liked the tingling feeling while washing my face with the soap. I will try it for a month to see if really does help with battling my blemishes.5
My husband ended up using this to was his face and body. He's a welder and gets pretty dirty. I use it when a zit pops up overnight. It works great.5
This soap does it all- and I am extremely picky about cleansers. My skin is breakout prone, so I demand a lot from my cleanser- remove makeup, no residue, don't strip my skin, don't break me out... phew! i had read about African black soap and I was motivated to have a simple cleaner with good natural ingredients. I'm not a freak about organic, but natural is always a good option. This soap does the job extremely well: it removes all my makeup, doesn't clog or dry out my skin, and leaves it extremely soft. Plus it lasts sooo long- one bar can easily last one year. Tip- cut it off in pieces to use at a time, and put it on a slatted soap dish so it doesn't sit in water.5
