Here’s a quick lesson in skincare history: In West Africa, traditional black soap is made by mixing the ash and barks of local plants with healing oils. Rich in vitamins A and E, it’s become prized by women around the world for its abilities to battle blemishes and the signs of skin aging. This rich cleansing and exfoliating bar from Shea Terra Organics is the real deal. Made with USDA-certified organic ingredients, it retains all the medicinal benefits of the original African soap.
I honestly think this is causing me to have breakouts! I originally got this soap for my husband to help with his acne. I used it too to help make a routine for him. My skin has never had any problems with acne. I get occasional hormonal pimple here and there and tend to have dryer skin. I started using this soap two weeks ago and have been breaking out! I don't know why I'm the odd duck in using this soap but it's disappointing.2
This cleared up my acne better than anything the dermatologist has been prescribing me since my teens. Not to mention how un-natural all those creams and washes were! This contains nothing but all-natural, good-for-you ingredients and cleanses and refreshes my skin leaving it silky soft and smooth, without over-drying.5
I use this every morning in the shower with my Clarisonic. The combination agrees with my skin, keeping it smooth and not too dry.5
While the bar can easily fall apart and has a strong smell, it does wonder for your skin. It might take some getting used to since this soap is definitely different from most BUT absolutely worth it!4
This is an awesome deal for such a promising product. It is totally natural! I was afraid the color of the soap would make it messy but the lather has hardly any color at all. I have tried it as a mask, not thoroughly impressed. I use it in the shower instead with a sea sponge. It does seem to get all the dull skin off and leaves me feeling really clean. My only advice is to be sure you have a good hydrating body lotion to use afterwards, as it has the tendency to be a little drying. Overall i really enjoy this product and will probably purchase it again in the future.4
I purchased this to share with my husband. He's tried other African Black soaps in the past and enjoyed them, so I thought I'd give this brand a go. It must be "more authentic" than ones we've used in the past, because it has quite a muddy quality in comparison! It's soft and gooey when wet, with a very mellow scent. My skin feels balanced after using it. Only downside is it does leave quite a bit of staining on the tub and washcloth when done. I don't love scrubbing my tub after every shower, so I'll have to knock a star off.4
Smells odd but the effect it has on your skin is amazing and the scent does not stay on your skin. I plan on cutting the bar into smaller pieces to decrease messiness and preserve the soap. I'm sure this bar will last a long time. Will definitely purchase again!5
I purchased this product because I have minor problems with acne on my back and shoulders. I have now used this product 3 times in the shower and let it sit as a "mask" as recommended. I have seen some improvement in the clarity of my skin in the indicated problem areas. I expect that this product will continue to improve my skin for long-term results. I like the texture of the product. The smell of the soap is slightly more masculine than what I would usually prefer, but it does not leave any lingering smell so I don't have a problem continuing to use it.4
Love, love, love this soap. I use it on my face every other day or so to battle blemishes and it works superbly. I'd tried an activated charcoal soap before that I enjoyed immensely, and this is even better. Would definitely purchase again!5
I bought this soap and I love it :) It seems to be working and clearing up my acne.
DO NOT USE IT IN THE SHOWER! It can make a mess. Use it at your sink before you take a shower.
I highly recommend this soap to anyone suffering from acne. I will be buying again.
