Here’s a quick lesson in skincare history: In West Africa, traditional black soap is made by mixing the ash and barks of local plants with healing oils. Rich in vitamins A and E, it’s become prized by women around the world for its abilities to battle blemishes and the signs of skin aging. This rich cleansing and exfoliating bar from Shea Terra Organics is the real deal. Made with USDA-certified organic ingredients, it retains all the medicinal benefits of the original African soap.
I am so glad I read the reviews before buying this soap! Someone suggested cutting off little blocks at a time to use and that is the perfect way to use this soap! It will last a really long time. Store it somewhere dry between uses also. I really love this product, My face feels so soft and clean! Cleared up the few pimples I had as well!5
I've always had a difficult time finding something that actually works on my skin. I can honestly say that my skin is so much clearer and softer since using this. Doesn't really have a smell, but isn't anything too bad. I love this! Can be drying, so moisturizer will definitely be needed after depending on your skin. I've got combination oily/dry.5
I loved this product for my body, but it made my face break out more. It doesn't smell very lovely, but it works all over the rest of my body!4
the smell is not overpowering and it leaves my face feeling fresh and clean. It kind of makes a mess but overall, its a GO!4
This stuff is amazing I am recommending to everyone especially to those acne prone but it firms skin as well so anybody could benefit. There is some things I wouldn't recommend..washing privates and put the soap on a tray bc it stains and it is slightly abrasive so just lather in your hands.5
I love it! It definitely works but I wish it was easier to put on my face instead of having to lather it all over my hands.5
This soap smells vile and my skin felt very tight after using. I had to use a body wash to get rid of the scent and make my skin feel soft. Definitely not for me.1
I simply love this soap; it keeps my face clear of acne since my pregnancy. I am definitely purchasing more.5
I discovered African Black soap from several posts on IG with high recommendations. I have dry, easily-reddened, sensitive and acne-prone skin. I knew after using this bar to cleanse my face, my skin was barely red at all compared to when I normally wash my face with other mild cleansers. My skin wasn't tight either, soft and supple, yet felt as though a vaccume sucked all the impurities out! This is easily the most life-changing purchase I've made from not just Birchbox, but ever!5
I really like this soap! It has a very mild scent and lathers really well. I do like that I feel very clean after rinsing off. It doesn't leave a slippery or tacky feeling on the skin. I also like that I can use it on my face as well as on my body. I would definitely recommend using a wash rag or your hands as it does feel abrasive. As others have mentioned, you can cut it into smaller pieces, but I didn't really feel the need. Also, it is on the messy side, so be prepared to clean your tub or sink a little more often. All in all I really enjoy it (so far) and I will surely repurchase!5
