Here’s a quick lesson in skincare history: In West Africa, traditional black soap is made by mixing the ash and barks of local plants with healing oils. Rich in vitamins A and E, it’s become prized by women around the world for its abilities to battle blemishes and the signs of skin aging. This rich cleansing and exfoliating bar from Shea Terra Organics is the real deal. Made with USDA-certified organic ingredients, it retains all the medicinal benefits of the original African soap.
This soap works great and makes my skin feel super soft. The only downside is that it smells a little funky.4
It was so rough to the skin. I am older in age, my skin is sensitive. It felt like I was going to get cut every time I used it. It also broke my skin out. It rinse well off the skin. However it is not worth it for me.3
This soap is perfect. It takes off mascara and leaves my skin with a clean tight fresh feeling. It has lasted quite a while, which i also appreciate. The bar is a rather odd large true block of soap with hard angles which made it hard for me to handle. I took another users advice and cut the block into smaller pieces with worked wonderfully. I was able to have a bar at home, a bar in my gym bag and a bar packed ready for travel. Love this soap!5
Other than the terrible ring it left in my shower, this product is amazing! I was advised to try it to clear up small whiteheads on my chest, and it cleared them up after using for 2 days. It tingles a bit, which was odd, but I will be ordering this again!5
This product has done amazing things for my skin in just a short 3 days, I've seen more improvement from the use of just this product then any other expensive or dermatologist recommended product. I've literally tried every product out there for my acne and if everything keeps going well with the African black soap my acne will soon be gone! Highly recommend this product, especially with such a great price!5
I received this soap as a gift, i was very excited to use it since it was recommended for acne. I used the soap as soon as I received it n was happy with the way my skin felt. After a couple of days my skin got very dry and after several weeks it did not improve my acne. I am still using the soap but not as a mask first and I don't even notice a smell as stated in previous reviews.3
I really bought this based on the great reviews it received from other Birch girls. When purchasing bar soap a guideline I use is that If water is the first ingredient I don't buy. It has to be a good oil as number one. This qualified and after reading the reviews I had to try it. It has enough suds, I like that you can use it as a mask. I have sensitive skin and could not leave it on the whole 5 minutes because as others said it did start tingling. But when washed off there were no problems. Now while this does not smell bad in my opinion, it does not smell good either which is the only reason for a four. I want to smell terrific when exiting the shower and fresh not like this soap. I will use it once a week until gone and then reassess if I repurchase. It is a good deal price wise.4
This is a great product for problem skin. It definitely reduced my pores after two weeks and helped with oily skin. It does however leave your skin really dry if you use it everyday.4
I saw some reviews in here talking about it being a powder or something to that effect. I can say with certainty after receiving it that it's a soap. I used it with a muslin cloth and my face ended up feeling very clean. It smells good too. I've only used it once so far so I can't report on any long term effects yet, but overall I'm quite pleased with it.5
I really like this stuff. It can be used as either a face wash or a face mask. It has an ashy smell, but it's not all that noticeable. All in all, I would recommend this product.5
