This all-natural face wash and mask combines real African black soap—made from the ashes of plaintain and cocoa pods and prized by women around the world for its abilities to battle blemishes and the signs of skin aging—with rejuvenating South African rose hips oil to leave your face clean and refreshed. The formula is 100 percent natural, fragrance free, and gentle enough for those with sensitive skin.
no product has ever cleaned my pores as deeply as this cleanser. It works wonders. I only use it a few times a week (not 2x a day as recommended) and it still does better than any peel or exfoliant or cleanser or mask. I found this product through the website Beauty Sage, where they had a lot of great reviews. Try it!5
I usually have somewhat sensitive skin so the description on the back of the label about "feeling it tingle" made me a little uneasy when this first arrived in my birchbox. But having tried it a few times now I'm a big fan! The extra cleanse it gives my skin at the end of the week makes me feel refreshed and glowing for the next day!4
I'm not one to use many products to actually cleanse my face but this one was great. Once I got past the color I could really feel how amazingly refreshing it was with out leaving any dry feeling.4
I have been using this soap on and off since the beginning of July when I first ordered it. I noticed that when I wasn't using it daily my face would become more clogged and I would have more blackheads.
This soap really does unclog your pores. I found it a bit tedious to use at first because you do have to let it sit for 5-10 minutes before you wash it off, but that no longer bothers me at all. I am more than willing to let this sit on my face while I do something else if it means that my skin looks clear!
The scent is definitely not the most pleasant, but I am able to get past it. It does not last on the skin once the product has been washed off.
I highly recommend trying this for problematic, acne skin. In addition to being acne prone, my skin is also very sensitive and sometimes dry. This soap has not irritated my skin at all. I make sure to use a good moisturizer to avoid my skin drying out. I am so, so pleased with this product!
This product is great. It will make you feel clean and help clear your skin; however, I can only use this very sparingly as I have very sensitive skin and this soap is seriously strong. I would recommend with caution.4
This is one of the best facial products I've used! I will definitely order. I received this as a sample and can't believe the results in a short period of time.5
Terrible, that's all I need to say. The smell and the product were awful1
I have never had a face wash make my face feel SO CLEAN! Literally squeaky clean I love it5
Ok so I have acne, uneven complexion and oily skin. Reading reviews this seemed like the product to try. Just got it in the mail and have tired it twice and am already noticing a difference.
First of all, yes you NEED to let this product sit for 10 minutes before rinsing off. This seemed odd to me. This is the first face wash I've ever tired; and I've tried A LOT, that said it needs to set for 10 minutes first. First time using I felt a small tingling sensation but the bottle warns this could happen. After 10 minutes I was it off and noticed right away my skin seemed smoother. 4 hours later my skin still felt clean and fresh, at this point with past cleansers my skin start to feel oils but not this time. This morning, I applied in the shower and let it sit while I did my normal routine. I applied my makeup like usual and it is holding up so much better than usual.
I'm in LOVE with this cleanser and will be purchasing the facemask very soon!
So much about this cleanser surprised me. First, it's black in color and the consistency makes me think of something on a sci-fi thriller. Second, it is strong ... my face was "squeaky clean" with less than 30 seconds of applying it, and any tiny amount of the suds burned my eyes so much that there was no way I could keep the product on my face for several minutes like the directions suggested. The final straw and really, the biggest factor for me, was the smell. For whatever reason this stuff smells like cigarette ashes to me! Three times I used it and all three times I felt like I was using ashes from the bottom of an ashtray to wash my face, the scent/odor was so strong and distinct. Yuck. I'm sorry, I tried to like this product but I couldn't.2
