This all-natural face wash and mask combines real African black soap—made from the ashes of plaintain and cocoa pods and prized by women around the world for its abilities to battle blemishes and the signs of skin aging—with rejuvenating South African rose hips oil to leave your face clean and refreshed. The formula is 100 percent natural, fragrance free, and gentle enough for those with sensitive skin.
This product is truly black in color, has an odd fragrance, and the texture is thick. Not pleasant to use at all.1
The ingredients and effects that are on the label are appealing to me so I had high hopes for this, but I was disappointed. The instructions on the back say to leave it on for 10 minutes (already long for a cleanser) so it's more like a mask if anything, but after the 10 minutes it is much harder to wash off than expected... It leaves a very slick, greasy feeling film on my face that I can't rinse off with just water and hands, so I have to use a washcloth and another cleanser/exfoliator to even take it off, which really defeats the purpose of a daily cleanser at all! :/ Super disappointed.1
I was really excited to try this unique black soap. However when I started to apply it to my face I noticed that it not only smelled bad, but it smelled almost identical to a wet ashtray. It smelled so awful I removed it immediately.1
The smell and consistency are horrible. I could hardly get any out of the bottle. It smells exactly like a lit cigarette.1
I was excited to try this because I love trying new facial cleansers. I have oily/combo skin, and this product dried out my skin horribly. I also accidentally got a tiny drop in my eye and it burned for hours after.1
Am I using this wrong? I applied it on my wet skin, left for five minutes then massaged and washed it off. It left my skin feeling like I just used a cheap hotel soap on my face, that tight dry feeling. Maybe if I use the sugar with it & leave it on longer it might actually do something? Plus the smell is really gross to me. It smells like a weird sauce you'd find at an oriental restaurant.1
I really wanted to like this product, but I have to give it a negative review. First off, it has a really weird smell that makes it unpleasant to use. Also, once I rinsed it off it left a sticky residue on my face that I had to rinse off with a different cleanser. I guess it cleaned my pores but it didn't work any better than a drugstore cleanser that I could have bought for a fraction of the price. Extremely unpleasant to use, don't waste your money!1
I'm sorry but I couldn't get past the smell of this "soap." ugh it was gross!1
I didn't notice any redness or tingling as the package warned about and I liked how clean and soft my skin felt after using, but wow does this stuff stink.1
The texture of this product is like molasses--very dark and thick. I was excited to try it. I am always looking for great exfoliating products that don't over dry my skin.
And though it made my skin very soft and smooth, it literally smelled like ashtray!!! I am not exaggerating that point--it was really bad.
So, I wanted to love the product, I just can't stand the smell. I will obviously not be buying a full size of this.
