This all-natural face wash and mask combines real African black soap—made from the ashes of plaintain and cocoa pods and prized by women around the world for its abilities to battle blemishes and the signs of skin aging—with rejuvenating South African rose hips oil to leave your face clean and refreshed. The formula is 100 percent natural, fragrance free, and gentle enough for those with sensitive skin.
This was a really neat product and I was excited to use it! I like the way it feels as I apply it, it has a very tiny and soft exfoliating texture. It has a slight tea smell, so I feel pretty neutral about it.4
Product worked well. It takes a while to lather up. I use an oil wash to get makeup off of my face. I then decided to use this product to get heavy black eye makeup off, oh boy, it STINGS so bad but it did get the job done.4
This face wash seemed to work quite nicely. It left no oily residue and I felt like my face was genuinely clean of makeup and dirt; however the scent is very off putting. It smells extremely earthy not to mention the fact that it is thick and black in color. That was a bit strange but not as bad as the smell. If the scent was different and more pleasant I would seriously consider purchasing this face wash.4
This might have been the weirdest sample I've ever received. It was a thick liquid that barely came out of the bottle and smelled weird. I tried it in the shower because the directions say to keep it on for 10 minutes but it immediately started running everywhere and stinging my eyes and face. Even after rinsing off right away, my face still stung. It may work better during a normal face washing but I haven't wanted to try because it was such a mess last time.2
I was very intrigued when I saw this product in my birch box and I was excited to give it a try, as I am always looking for a better facial soap/wash. After using it I had mixed reviews. It was effective; however, you have to leave it on for a couple minutes and the smell is unpleasant for me. Also it is very viscose so the the wash made it close to my mouth and the taste was salty and gross. Be cautious when using it around your mouth for this reason.4
I was not expecting to like this cleanser quite as much as I did. It has a nice texture and didn't leave my skin overly dry or sticky after using. It was a really gentle exfoliant.4
I love this cleanser- it is super gentle on my sensitive skin and gets the job done- leaves skin feeling soft and clean. The only issue is the smell is not that great...but if you want natural then that comes with it. I will definitely be purchasing.5
The black color of the soap was a bit of a turn off. After getting over having what looked like oil on my hands I applied it to my face. It left my skin feeling rather dry and itchy. Probably not going to be buying this after the sample is gone. I'll stick to my dermatologica for now.3
I love African black soap to begin with, so when I saw this and African black soap was an ingredient I knew I was gonna love it. Although it did make me break out a little bit it did make my face feel soft. I won't use this product again because of it making my face break out. I'm too sensitive4
I feel like this soap stripped my skin a little too much, and it had a weird stinging to my face hat I didn't like.3
