We find this tricolored hair oil more mesmerizing than all the cat videos we’ve ever watched on YouTube. When you shake the bottle, the layers of amber, clear, and red oils combine to form a potent elixir for all kinds of hair woes, from heat damage and dryness to dullness and frizz. It only takes a drop to smooth down flyaways and give an instant shine boost to hair, and long-term use will heal and protect hair from further damage.
I have not purchased this through Birchbox, but I have used this for about a year now. What I love: it works! I have long, thick hair so I found that have I use four or five drops to have proper effect. What I don't like: it has a very tropical scent that some people may not like, but it doesn't last long. Also, there's no dropper of any kind in the packaging, so pouring out the right amount can be a little exciting if you aren't paying attention! I would give this five stars if there was a better dispensing mechanism.
I've also found that warming up your hands and rubbing them together before putting the product in your hair helps the oil to absorb more quickly.
This oil kept my hair smooth and healthy looking, and I felt as though it reduced drying time. Only downside is it smells a bit musky, but all protective oils seem to, so I guess I just have to deal with that.5
When I look at it I think apple hair oil, but it doesn't have a smell to it really, that sample container is so small that is hard to mix it well. Especially for the first use. It works well on my hair though since it is really dry and breaks easy, overall happy with the product, just not the package, it could of been a little bigger5
The directions said one drop and I didn't believe that with my thick coarse hair and the first time used way too much but when I followed the directions I loved the way it made hair feel.5
I am usually very particular with hair oils because they tend to make my hair look greasy and heavy when it is straightened. This one made my hair feel silky and smooth, but I can't stand the scent of it. I have been using a lighter, better smelling hair oil for the past few months and will probably stick with that one since I can tolerate the scent better.3
I used this product as directed the first time. It left my fine hair shiny but it quickly weighed it down. It was fine to use as a shine treatment when flat ironed. I used it three more times by applying it to dry hair before I went to bed and sleeping in a braid. I then washed it out the next morning in the shower. Wow, what a difference. Made my hair shiny and super soft and washing it out made it lose the weigh down factor. It stayed soft and shiny for three days. Will buy it again to use as a deep conditioning treatment.4
I was very excited to try this product after reading about it a lot, but was very disappointed once I tried it. I felt that it was very hard to mix in the tiny sample container. Once I did use it, I don't know that it did much of anything for my thick hair. My usual frizz wasn't any less, nor was my hair any shinier. This product is just not for me.3
It's hard to find a product to tame my crazy curly locks, and this oil had done just that. I was even brave enought to use it while straightening my hair, and guess what?! It didn't leave it greasy and weighed down. And it smells amazing! After my sample is gone I will definitely be purchasing this! All around winner weather you have curly or straight hair you have to give it a try.5
This hair oil seems to work great, but if you have fine ir thin hair, make sure not to get it close to your scalp. If so, it will make your hair appear very greasy.5
Made my hair look very oily and I didn't like the smell. The company is more mainstream so I know the ingredients aren't the best, meaning natural. Didn't like the application because your hands get all greasy.1
