We're all for keeping things simple—but when it comes to your face, it doesn't pay to cut corners. Give your postshave skin what it needs most: hydration. This rich aftershave lotion delivers an infusion of moisture, along with witch hazel to reduce irritation and razor burn, eucalyptus oil to tone skin, and and a bit of alcohol for a traditional aftershave bite. In short, skip this step at your own risk.
I received this Proraso aftershave along with their shaving cream as a gift. While I did enjoy the shaving cream, I was initially less impressed with the aftershave. As expected, it does come in a nice package and provides the skin with a fresh, cool feeling after shaving (it's worth noting that this product contains alcohol, which may cause a somewhat dry/burning sensation for sensitive skin). As other reviewers have noted, the consistency is that of a liquid rather than a lotion, but the scent is office friendly. Still, I found the menthol smell better suited for the shaving cream than the aftershave, and would generally prefer to pick at this $/oz price level a top-notch, cologne-smelling aftershave that is alcohol-free such as Blaviar Epsilon to finish a fine shave. However, after a while I revisited this product and realized that it actually works as advertised, and perhaps my own expectations were not exactly aligned with its purpose. It’s just not meant to be very soothing and calming for an irritated skin after shaving, but rather refreshing/cooling and even stinging. And it’s not intended to offer a luxurious cologne experience, but rather an old-school barbershop feel. All in all, this is certainly a more traditional option as an aftershave rather than an ultramodern one – make sure to approach it with the right expectations.4
This felt wonderful after shaving, with an added bonus of actually smelling nice. I have some fairly sensitive skin when shaving and I always end up with a little razor burn by the end of it, so after I shaved this last time I used this aftershave and it actually felt soothing to the few spots I had of razor burn, even after ward I don't recall any of those spots being sore or red throughout the day(s) like they normally are. Overall, this is a great product.5
This is a pretty good product at a reasonable price. It felt refreshing after using and it made my skin feel very smooth.4
product was really good quality. will buy again!!!!5
There isn't much to say about this product other than it is, as advertised, a PERFECT aftershave lotion.
I often shave (my neck mostly, I wear scruff on my face) with no cream or gel at all, and with this product I get NO razor burn or irritation.
The scent (eucalyptus?) makes its presence known without overpowering.
I will be sad when I run out...So I'll probably just buy more.
Do you remember going to the barber shop as a kid, and smelling that great old-time aroma? This is it. This is the second bottle I am ordering.5
I had always looked at Proraso products on the shelf and thought, "Must be for Dads." Packaging is old-school and I had not heard much about the brand.
In the past year, I've noticed more mentions of Proraso for shaving. Was glad to receive the Aftershave Lotion as a sample to try it out.
The smell is great, like an old-school barbershop. Puts a sense of manliness in your morning and day. It applies nicely and isn't heavy like other lotions and balms I've used. And most important, it hasn't caused my sensitive skin to break out at all.
I'll be buying some of this stuff.
Doesn't seem worth it's pricetag, but overall seems like a decent product. Neutral smell. Decent feel. Really liked the packaging.3
I have a beard so I rarely shave but when I trim up this stuff works and smells great5
Super smooth, smells nice and works great. Use it after every shave5
