This eyelid primer is the Thelma to your eye shadow’s Louise. The velvety formula guarantees that colorful shadows stay bright and smudge-free for hours. Suitable for all skin types and tones, the sheer formula blends in seamlessly and doesn’t leave any kind of residue on your lids.
I wasn't super thrilled after using this product. It kind of seemed like an extra step for me, as I usually don't apply primer to my eyelids. I have very oily skin, and by the end of the day my eyshadow and eyeliner kind of looked the way it always does.
I'm sure that this is a very nice primer, it just wasn't for me. I think that if the user had dry to normal/combination skin, they may have better results with this product
My eye shadow didn't go on evenly after using this product. Maybe I didn't use the product right.2
This product works wonders on oily eyelids. For those of you who complained, try using just a small amount. A little goes a long way. No smudging or creasing!5
My eye makeup started to breakdown and crease after 8 hours. I have used other primer that gave me 12+ hours of wear, so I was not impressed.2
I've been using BareMinerals primers because I like their shimmery bases, but this smooth, matte primer held my shadow much longer. A little goes a long way and I didn't have to reapply shadow between work and an evening outing. Strongly recommend!5
I've never primed for eye shadow before and wow, what a difference it makes! This product is like glue for eye shadow- but in a good way. :)5
I'm on the fence about this product. I have oily skin. This product definitely works better than what I was using, but I did notice that I still have creases in my eye makeup late in the day (albeit less noticeable creases).3
I'm very picky about primers, and this is a good one. Some primers are too greasy for me, but this isn't, yet it does feel like it has some moisturizing to it. Besides texture, it really does work and keeps my makeup crease free all day. I still prefer Urban Decay or Mary Kay primers, because they are slighty drier which I think allows for richer color. I'd still recommend/consider The Balm primer though.4
I am beginning to LOVE theBalm as a brand - their products are solid!! I have the illuminator (which I love!) and after trying Put a Lid On It, I think the brand is just amazing. I did a nice smokey eye for a dinner out, and this held it in place perfectly ALL EVENING - and eye makeup has a tendency to smudge around on me. Love it!! The only reason I'm not planning on purchasing is simply that I don't wear eye shadow often at all (I truly don't know how!!). But if I did, I would certainly buy this.5
This primer is a little oily and when it dries is very sticky to where I can't blend or move shadows around. Basically it isn't very forgiving & once you put a color in a spot, good luck softening the edges or fading around it. Maybe I'm not a primer person and I should stick to just using cream shadows as a base.3
