Infused with notes of grapefruit and black pepper, this unisex blend is so distinguished we think it deserves a Michelin star (or two). Designed by Atelier Cologne’s fragrance expert Jérome Epinette, Mistral Patchouli uses fresh fruity and floral notes to transform a base of musky Indonesian patchouli. Equal parts zesty and earthy, the enticing result is totally addictive. Think of it as molecular perfumery.
So even before the "coup de grace" that sent this one into oblivion for me, I just couldn't get behind this fragrance. I liked it in the bottle, quite a bit actually, I enjoyed smelling it. I thought the notes were distinct and interesting; obviously a skillfully crafted scent, but I just didn't like it on my skin. I think in this case the assertive patchouli was responsible, but I have to note that I had similar feelings about a sample of Blood Orange, also by Atelier: loved the smell but i couldn't wear it. Fragrances are such an individual and subjective thing, it depends so much on the person's body and its own scents, but also WHO is smelling you. This is why the final blow to this sample came when my wife smelled it on me and said I smelled like her grandfather.3
Not really for me. Did not like the combination of scents.3
seems like good quality stuff, but I literally hate the smell. smells like average girl perfume.3
Couldn't smell it. Just couldn't get it to register on the old schnoz. My wife said she liked it, but it seemed really faint to me, and if I'm not sure I have it on... then it's a dud for me.
I really like the idea of discovering new colognes. This particular scent however, is just not for me. It has a very strong odor before it is applied. I can smell the alcohol. The smell itself is very woodsy, outdoorish, scent with hints of patchouli. Maybe good for hipsters, but not for someone like me. For the Spring/Summer I prefer sweeter/fresher scents.3
I agree with another reviewer about the "heaviness" of the scent. It is spicy and floraly. The patchouli isn't really pronounced so don't expect it really to smell like what you think of when you think of patchouli. It is spicy and I do like the smell. But it is definitely not light so probably too much for summer.3
Smells pretty good. Doesnt last too long. It has something like a spring scent to it.3
Looking at the other reviews was a split down the middle. The scent is very strong and doesn't go away. Not a bad thing for cologne, but I just didn't like it that much.3
I like the scent of this product. However, it's difficult to apply from the sample bottle and it doesn't last as long as other colognes. Probably wouldn't buy this product.3
I have fixed feelings about this cologne. Part of me likes the smell and part of me doesn't. It smells like fennel. Although, I have received a few compliments and a few complaints. It seems to be a polarizing scent to a lot of people.3
