If we had three beauty wishes, we’d go for killer cheekbones, glowing skin, and a professional lighting crew wherever we went. Since not all daydreams end happily ever after, we rely on this wondrous product instead. A beauty editor fave, Benefit’s Sun Beam is a golden bronze highlighter that subtly defines and contours your features.
This bronzer is one of my favorites. It rubs in evenly and highlights just right. I like the color, it must work on all skin tones perfectly. The shimmer is just right. Definitely a sun kissed look4
Love this particular color! It adds a nice bronzing shimmer to the face and works well on both medium skin and light skin. My only gripe is that it's very shimmery- just be careful how much you apply to one spot!4
This is great to give a shimmer to your face. But be careful a little goes a long way. Too much makes you look like Princess Sparkle.4
I have kind of low light in my bedroom where I put on makeup. So the first time I applied this product, it looked like it had just given me a healthy glow. But when I walked into the bathroom at work it looked like I'd put my makeup on with a middle school dance in mind! This is a great product - just be careful to apply a small amount! Also important to note that this doesn't have too much of a tint. It's more of a highlighter/illuminator. If you're looking for a true bronzer I'd look elsewhere =)4
This does have a very natural look which I like. I was expecting more of a bronzing quality but it is more of a highlighter. If you want a tan look you will have to use a bronzer as well.4
I've owned a couple bottles of this highlighter, and love it. You only need a bit, so it lasts a long time. Apply a little or a lot, depending on the look. Works great to highlight under the brows if you use a light hand, too.4
The perfect summertime glow–and you can have it year-round! This is one of the best highlighters I've experimented with, and am always bummed when I realize I've used it all. I'd say the only downfall is if you're in a rush, lack of blending can result in a weird, streaky line exactly where you don't want it.4
I can't say I love it as much as high beam, but I still don't think it's a bad choice. It doesn't leave your skin looking orange, etc. I just think it isn't dark enough for my skin tone. While I get really tan in the summer, I am definitely much lighter in the winter so was hoping for more color than this gave me.4
I've been using Benefit Cosmetics for well over 5 years. There are few products by Benefit (if any!) that I can't find use for in some way or another.
SunBeam is no different! I love the creamy feel as it goes on my face but still provides my skin the ability to breathe so I don't have any unwanted/scary break outs. The product itself has a gold tint with brown/coppery under tones, but once it's on the skin, it becomes very natural, almost sheer with a hint of color as opposed to some "highlighters" that just end up being a goopy mess! This liquid sun in an adorbs bottle is perfect if you're planning on going for a natural but sultry look, a sunkissed look with a hint of color on the eyes or a browns and golds look pulled together with a beautiful sheen.
The ONLY reason I gave this product a 4 out of 5 in stead of a 5 out of 5 is because I typically enjoy the boldness of Benefit and I feel, while aboslutely gorgeous when used correctly, this product needed just a little more OOMPH! color wise. Perhaps a little more gold or copper to it, I found myself still needing bronzer after applying.
However, I will absolutely continue to wear this product and I will absolutely reconsider purchasing once I'm out!
Thanks Benefit! Helping girls everywhere stay cheeky, as usual!
I liked how this product gave my cheekbones a "lift." It's a very shimmery bronzer so I don't like it for an all-over effect, but good for highlighting areas. Great in the summer over an already good glow or at the holidays when I like to layer it with a cheek stain.4
