We generally frown upon PDG (public displays of grooming) but this floral-patterned mini-file is so charming, we’re tempted to make an exception. Inspired by Madewell’s new spring collection, which features sun-ready prints and patterns like this one, the emery board is as practical as it is pretty. The double-sided nail care essential is perfect for daily maintenance and as a quick fix for snags or breaks.
These files are adorable to look at, but are nothing special. If you're obsessed with girly, floral patters, then by all means, add this to your collection.3
My nails grow at a ridiculous rate. So much so, that I generally keep at least one file by my computer so I can tend to upkeep whilst watching re-runs of old sit-coms on the internet.
So I was really excited to get this Madewell Emery Board in the mail.
Unfortunately, I basically "used it up" within a few days. For the occasional hang nail or snagged edge, it worked fine. But once I had used it for an actual manicure, going through all 10 fingernails, that was pretty much the end- the board's grit was all used up and could no longer file down any more nails.
With the other side the same thing happened, so I essentially got two full uses and had to toss it. Which made me sad, because it's really pretty and I liked it's little plastic case. If I were ever to get another one, I'd keep it in my purse and just use it for "spot fixes" and get one of those ugly flat brown emery boards for home manicure use ;)
This emery board was very smooth, and I love that I didn't feel like my nails were being sawed away. However, $5 for an emery board is a little too much for me; I don't usually spend much time on my nails unless I go get them done.3
I love the floral print on this emery board. Unfortunately, it has not held up especially well-it seems worn out after only a month.3
I have used it a handful of times and the file does not keep its roughness enough to really help file my nails. I was really excited to receive the product as I was in need of a file anyways but was disappointed that the usefulness was short lived.3
I got one or two uses out of this and would prefer something that's a little better made and not disposable. It tears really easy. It is cute but there are other cute patterned nail files out there that last longer. Tweezerman makes great ones.3
I have very short, thin nails and so I mostly use the edges of the file rather than the middle and it just didn't last that long, already pretty unable. It's more the cardboard part wearing out than the actual filing top.
I did like the cute pattern and the plastic cover, would travel well.
Works fine, is pretty, though I'm not sure it's worth the $5. But if you get it in your Birchbox, it's a handy thing to keep around, definitely!3
I love the choice of pattern- classy floral- and I'm proud to carry this around in my purse. It even comes with a cute case to put it in! My only complaint is that the pattern started peeling off of the side that was exposed. I've never had a nail file do that before. :(3
This was a cute surprise in my first Birchbox. I love Madewell and floral design so I thought how perfect? Turns out the board is just a cute tool. It doesn't do the best job filing my nails. I still keep it in my work bag for quick touch ups when I'm on the go. The plastic sleeve is really nice too because it doesn't scratch anything else in the bag.3
