Citrus scents are impossibly fresh, but they also have a habit of going missing after a few hours. Until now, that is. This concentrated, distinctive blend lasts much longer than traditional citrus scents. Orange Sanguine is meant to recreate a moment in time, and mimics the blissful feeling of sitting on an oceanfront terrace, with groves of orange trees off in the distance. The joyful scent has top notes of blood orange and bitter orange, a middle transition with jasmine and geranium, and a base of amber woods, tonka beans, and sandalwood.
Because it's a cologne, its very strong. It smelt delicious, but not something I think I could wear on a day to day basis.3
I loved the light citrus smell of this product. It's not too over-powering for a concentrated cologne. I just didn't feel like the scent lasted long enough on my skin. I just wasn't a fragrance for me.3
I thought this smelled ok but the fragrance didn't seem to last very long.
The smell was fresh and very citrusy. A little too in your face for me.3
Birchbox is proving me wrong about testing new perfumes - 2 of the 3 I've gotten samples of are ones I really liked. This scent was clean and fresh, with a bit of citrus and spice, it's totally my style! The only problem is that it seems to wear off after not very long - I wish it would last all day!
(I also wish the perfume samples had the tiny spray, instead of the impossible-to-use stopper top)
Gave this a 3. Smells slightly masculine to be in the women's box. Would actually smell very good as a home scent, but not so much for wearing. My boyfriend, however, thinks it's awesome (he loves orange scent), so maybe it's just not my thing. :)3
It's not a bad scent, just not for me. I'm very particular about my scents and I'm just not into this one.3
Although this frangrance is fresh and appropriate for spring or summer wear, I did not prefer the scent. I do not plan to purchase this item. I received a sample in my April Birchbox.3
I liked this scent initially, but after about half an hour the orange notes wore off and all that was left was a heady, unpleasant vanilla-type scent. The price is also much too high.3
I got this sample in my April Birchbox and tossed it in a drawer with the dozens of other perfume samples I receive every so often. This morning I decided to use all of the April samples I hadn't tried, so I popped the top off the vial and dabbed a moderate amount on my wrist. My first thought: this smells like an old lady. My second thought: This smells like an old lady who has been rolling around in an orange grove. My third thought: Why did I put this Retired Floridian scent all over my wrist?
But then something happened and the scent really softened into something that I've never smelled before (and I pay over $300/bottle for the brand of perfume I currently wear and have never before thought of buying another kind). It was slightly orange, but the old lady was gone and (had I not read the description), I would have sworn there was a tiny hint of vanilla. Essentially, the perfume ended up as a really sweet - NOT cloying - and inviting scent. If this scent was a down comforter, I would never get out of bed. Def. worth a shot, and several thoughts.
