Originally created for new mothers facing sore nipples from breastfeeding, Dr. Lipp's ultrahydrating, healing formula later gained a rep as the ultimate lip gloss, primer, and multipurpose balm among savvy makeup artists. And with everything it does—prep lips to make lipstick wear better, add shine to cheeks, even tame unruly eyebrows—it'll earn a prized place in your makeup bag too. Packed with all-natural ingredients, this thick, rich, long-lasting formula is clinically proven to repair rough, flaky lips and smooth dry skin patches—plus it helps heal cuticles, split ends, sunburns, and itchy dry skin.
This balm came at just the right time for me to test it out. The weather has been changing daily, with wind storms and below freezing temps one week and 55 degrees and sunny the next. Needless to say, this leaves my lips chapped, sore, and raw... Dr. Lipp's to the rescue!
One thing I will say is that I would recommend this product for seriously chapped lips, but maybe not for every day use - it is very thick and very sticky. That said, those attributes are what makes it so great for lips that are cracked and in pain. The thickness helps put a "seal" over any cracks, protecting them from wind and taking away that painful stinging. It also stays on; no need to reapply every 20 minutes!
I couldn't get past how sticky this product was in order to make a judgement about the effectiveness. It was like putting honey on my lips.2
I have the dreaded winter dry skin. This product worked great on putting moisture back into my lips and healing some of the cracks I had. Would recommend it for anyone.5
Moisturized lips very well! It can be a bit thick when it is cold but aside from that it works great. There is no scent or flavor.5
This stuff is great, especially for the winter season when my lips need it the most. I don't love the taste or smell of this product but it's worth it when you see how it feels on your lips. It's soothing but thick, you kinda get sticky when putting this on. I would buy it !4
Hydrating without the greasy texture Left my lips moist, I like it! Its perfect as a primer to your lipstick.5
This product has the appearance and consistency of Vaseline, with a slightly unpleasant smell. I only used it on my lips, but didn't find it to be particularly hydrating or healing- more like a high-shine lip gloss.2
Lanolin is great. lots of great uses. lips, dry cracked hands. even cleared up my baby's red cheeks in the winter. This is just in a cuter package than the one for breastfeeding.4
This stuff is amazing. It is thick but very moisturizing. I haven't tried it anywhere besides on my lips but says it can be used as moisturizer on other body parts. I will buy the full size.5
The small size it comes in is deceiving because a little goes a long way. I've used this balm mainly on my lips and cuticles, as my hands get really dry in the winter. It's a little sticky, but it does its job moisturizing, that's for sure.5
