Discover the secret passed from nursing mothers to make-up artists. Originally created for new mothers facing sore nipples from breastfeeding, Dr. Lipp’s ultra hydrating, healing formula later gained a rep as the ultimate lip gloss, primer and multipurpose balm among savvy London makeup artists.
It has happened again...my husband saw this in my drawer, opened it, and won't give it back. He's refused to use it anywhere but home...the nipple balm title threatens his manhood, but he LOVES it and his lips are soft!5
My eyebrows were certainly raised after reading the label to Mr. Lipp's Original Nipple Balm - for lips! Yes, I gave a little chuckle while breaking it open to try it out. It has many purposes besides rescuing nipples & lips, it also is supposed to hydrate dry cuticles & rough elbows. I'm not sure of its effectiveness of relieving dry, chapped nipples - but it felt like I was rubbing grease over my lips. I tried it on my dry cuticles, even a few dry patches on my skin that have been driving me crazy the past few days. The result? My lips felt hydrated & smooth, but it did nothing for my cuticles & skin. After a while, the sticky residue was no match to my habits of licking & biting my lips. Thankfully, there is no warning of whether it is dangerous if swallowed, but what little it did do - I suspect it is harmless.1
Can always go to use with me, but I am loyal to my palmers cocoa butter, which is the best!4
I am constantly searching for a product thick enough to soften my lips and stay on...and this is it! This product reminds me of this great clear lip gloss that Elizabeth Arden used to make in the '80s, except this is SO much better because it's absent of that '80s goopiness and stickiness.
I am a new devotee and will be purchasing this immediately!
This is a very thick, resilient lip balm--I could see this being great in the winter, but it feels a little heavy for warm weather.5
I liked to packaging--very cute little tube. I don't know if the fact that it was originally made for nipples is a positive thing. I thought it kept my lips nice & moisturized. I don't know if it really stood out enought for me to buy a full size though.4
It was curious seeing a lip product in a small tube without a dispensing tip, but because the product is so thick it came out nicely! (Not sure how it comes out of the full size though) The balm is a bit thick initially on the lips but after it warms up, it provides a nice layer of protection and moisturizes any dry areas!4
Great idea! Great packaging! Great product! This product really delivers. It is absolutely something that should always be on hand. I am positive it will be with me constantly throughout the winter months! Bravo!5
This is definitely thick, as many mention, but I really like that aspect because it creates a barrier on my lip against the wind. So it's not too ideal as a lip primer or base, but I like to wear it alone or under my gloss.4
I love the rich texture...I can feel the healing. Also has a great shine.5
