We tend to gravitate toward products that have as many functions as Imelda Marcos has pairs of shoes. (Okay, that may be a slight exaggeration.) Beauty Protector's leave-in mist is about as versatile as they come. This paraben- and sulfate-free detangler seals the cuticles of each strand to smooth hair and moisturizes, which helps minimize frizz. It also provides protection against UV rays and heat, safeguards color, and adds shine. Happily, it accomplishes all this through a weightless, nongreasy formula that leaves behind an airy floral scent. Plus, its 100 percent vegan and suitable for all hair types.
I was excited to use this after seeing it was a popular item with its own signature scent, especially because both my 9 year old daughter and I have very long hair and need a good detangler. I used it on her first one morning before school and wish I had not! It went in thick and pasty and the "scent" is just terrible! I like my shampoo or hair products to smell slightly fruity or a nice almondly scent. This is like a very strong squirt of cheap department store musky perfume or bathroom air freshener. She started saying, "mommy get it out!" But there was no time to wash it out and she had to go to school with it in her hair. All day kids asked her why she was wearing "her grandmothers perfume" and even her teacher told her not to wear that perfume again because it smells too strong. I don't know who likes this scent or why but Good Lord I hope they aren't seated next to me at the movie theater!1
I don't know why this didn't work for my hair, but my hair just felt heavy and unclean after using it. It didn't make it sleeker, it actually felt harder to comb through and it didn't hang smoothly. I won't buy this product.1
This product was too sweet smelling and left a sticky texture in my hair .... Not for me1
The product made my hair feel heavy. I did not like the scent either, would never buy this product for my collection.1
I know they say this product works on all types of fair, but I found it to be too heavy for my short, fine hair. I could never get the right amount on my hair. I first applied too much, which made my hair feel greasy. I tried easing up, but then my hair didn't seem fully conditioned. I can't see this stuff replacing a regular wash-out conditioner. I like the idea of having something that would protect my hair from the sun, but this isn't it.1
I have very thin hair that gets oily very fast, so I never use conditioner in the shower I use a leave in detangler so I was excited to get this product. Unfortunately the product did not like my hair at all. When I used it after showering and shampooing, I used the product as said (was able to brush my hair and get out the tangles that part worked,) but when i was don drying my hair I looked like a wet rat. My hair was so oily even at the roots where I didnt spray the product were greasy. Maybe this is for someone with thicker hair, but I ended up having to take another shower immediately, I could not go out with my hair looking the way it did. I would have been better off throwing some dry shampoo on my hair then I wouldn't have been two hours late.1
By no stretch of the imagination is this a mist. It has the consistency of Elmer's glue. So I dapped some on my hand to work through my hair. I have straight, shoulder length undamaged hair. This left my hair greasy. The smell is nice though, sort of cocoa butter/chocolate.1
This product smells good but leaves hair feeling heavy and dirty. I would not recommend this product.1
The product made my hair seem more frizzy than normal. It may not be a good fit for natural hair worn in a short afro. I would not recommend for this purpose.1
I was initially excited when I saw this. I have long (waist-length); it is very fine and tangles easily and I have a LOT of it. I decided to start by spraying this on the bottom part of my hair. It seemed to do fine; my hair brush snagged a few times, but nothing a second tug couldn't break through. I then moved up my hair, spraying the next section.
This did not work as a detangler. While it seems to be doing the job of moisturizing and making my hair appear shinier, it was NOT a good solution on detangling my hair.
I do not care for the scent, either, which means I have to put my hair up or else be bombarded with the aroma every time I turn my head.
Finally, when I went to actually put my hair up (and hand to run my hands over my hair in the process, of course), I discovered it felt weirdly greasy. I had to wash my hands twice to feel like I'd gotten it all off.
If it were just marketed as a conditioner/shine-maker, its score would have been a bit higher. The smell is not for me, but that can't be helped. The detangler is a nightmare. Would not recommend.
