We love a shimmery shadow, but often we find ourselves in more of a matte mood. If you’re looking to add a bit of color without any shine, consider this velvety shadow. Cement, a medium grey, is perfect for a daytime smoky eye, and we love dabbing a bit of Alabaster, a peachy ivory, in the corners of our eyes as a quick brightening cheat. Darker shades like Purple Sage and Burnt Umber will instantly up the glam factor.
I received the "Santa Fe" color in my birchbox. I love the small packaging, although this might just be for the sample. The consistency was great for eyeshadow, and it seems like it will last for awhile, just the absolute wrong color for me. Perhaps if I was a tan blonde this would work, but for a pale brunette, it just sort of looked like I might have a mild case of pink eye... or I need a nap2
I wear this as a liner and it stays in place all day. I got the burnt umber shade in my March box and it goes really well with my fair skin tone and eyes, but I could see it being complimentary to all skin shaded and eyes.4
I liked the color a lot but it was not very noticable once it was applied. I would try other shades for sure.3
I received this shadow in the color Alabaster which pretty much matched my skin tone so completely I couldn't see it. I tried a few more layers to see if it would become more visible and it didn't. This might be good for you if you have this skin tone and need a nude base but the formula does not make it a stand out at this price point. I can't say it's velvety, but it's not as dry as some matte shadows are. My lids also tend to be oily so this won't last unless you have a good primer.2
Make eyeshadow was a great addition to this Birchbox. The color stayed on all day and did not irritate my sensitive eyes at all.4
I received the cement color in my March box and I do like it a lot. It covers nicely and stays on all day. The only drawback is the price. I wouldn't pay this much for one shadow unless it was amazing, the shadow is good but not amazing.4
i thought the color was going to be very dark and wouldnt blend well [just based on consistency] but was pleasantly surprised! it blended well and goes on lighter than expected so you can make it as dark or light as you'd like!4
I received this sample in the grey Cement color. It was a really cute little compact that the shadow came in, but I don't think I would use this color. I like my greys to be a have more shimmer to them so it doesn't just look like I have a black eye.4
good matte shadow. still it's just eyeshadow not sure it is worth the money guess it depends on the size of your wallet.3
I received the Burnt Umber sample and it kind of made me look like a raccoon, even when applied well. It was too dark for my pale complexion. I think the purple shade would work better for green eyes/fair skin.
On the positive side, the eyeshadow stays on long and doesn't wear off!
