Traditional shampoos rely on sulfates to create a thick lather, but the flip side is that they can be incredibly harsh and drying especially on color-treated hair that needs the moisture most. This ultra-gentle shampoo is formulated without sulfates to ensure that it removes buildup without stripping color. After all, highlights can cost a pretty penny—we want to make them last!
I did not care for this product. It left my hair tangled and full of snarls. Used all of his sample conditioner and still had to use a spray on leave in conditioner that I own, just to get a comb through it. I won't be buying this product.1
Since I only wash my hair a couple times a week I like shampoos that lather pretty thickly and really get may hair clean. Every "color-saver" type shampoo I've used never seems to get my hair clean as I like, this one was no different. It may be "saving" my color but it's not cleaning my scalp.1
I am very upset with this product, it lies right on the bottle. It's not color safe at all, in fact in stripped most of my color and I watched it go down the drain. Not happy1
I didn't care for this shampoo...it was really thick and I felt like my hair was even frizzier than normal afterward. It did smell nice tho...1
Found it a little heavy and my hair limp after use.1
I wanted to like this shampoo -- I have color-treated hair and have been shopping around trying to find a good sulfate-free product. Sadly, this ended up doing weird, weird things to my hair. Maybe it's because my hair is fine, and gets oily at the roots (even though color-treating dries out the ends). Basically this made my hair totally unmanageable every time I used it. My hair looked and felt greasy, and wouldn't lay across the usual places where I part it. Every cowlick was active and at attention. Bangs everywhere! Probably best for someone with drier hair than I -- oily girlies should probably steer clear.1
I'm not a fan of sulfate shampoos because I just don't feel like they really clean my hair and scalp. I don't know if I was the only one but when used this shampoo I didn't get much of a lather. That made me uncomfortable and i ended up rinsing and repeating more than usual.
Although I really loved the scent of this shampoo, I found that it did not do a lot for my very dry, wavy hair.2
I got a sample of this in my box a few months ago. I would not recommend this product to anyone with dry hair. My hair is dyed but it is also naturally curly. After using gentle products meant for curly hair for several weeks, this was very drying, it smells a bit like chemicals - furniture polish? and the color on my hair looks no better (and no worse, honestly) than it did before. I color my hair red and it looked like a lot of it bled out during the rinse. Also, this stuff lathered like CRAZY on me - I thought it was no lather? It may work fine on those of you who lighten your hair. I have a feeling this would also work well as a clarifying shampoo if you're into that kind of thing, or if you use a lot of product.
I followed up with the recommended conditioner, which seemed really thin and slippery. After I towel-dryed my hair, I applied some leave-in conditioner to get it hydrated again. Honestly, I haven't felt this turns off by a shampoo since being forced to use White Rain at my mom's house when I forgot my own.
This shampoo did not work for me. It left my hair feeling really thick and heavy like it needed to be rewashed. Not for me.2
