The reason this highlighter is so amazing at bringing out our good features, we think, is that it has so many good features of its own. It gives skin a sheer, glowing look without excessive shine or sparkle, and is made with all organic, pure ingredients—like coconut oil and rosemary extract—meaning it's good for your skin too. The slight iridescence of its light-reflecting minerals (no disco ball effect) works to subtly reflect the light and make you look fresh-faced.
I'm not really big on makeup, but have been wanting to find something more natural that feels less cakey and heavy on my face. This is a really nice luminzer - creamy, but not thick or heavy, much like the rest of the rms line. It also isn't too sparkly or anything like that - just the right amount of shine to catch the light and make you look more awake. Looks nice on the eyelids, too, to kind of brighten up the eyes without using an actual eye shadow.4
I had heard about this product for quite some time but I was concerned about a few things... First the coconut oil base - would it make my skin break out? Nope! Second, is the shimmer really different? Yes - the shimmer is very subtle and more ethereal rather than glittery. And third, I have oily skin - will this make me look greasy? No, if you apply very sparingly. And I will also add that I apply this over powder so that the rest of my skin has a matte finish.
If you are expecting a dramatic highlight, this product might not be for you... However if you are looking for a subtle glow, add this to your cart STAT!
This product creates the most subtle glow of any highlighter. It is very light and does look like light is hitting the face. I have oily skin, so I wasn't sure about it....but I use it very lightly on the cheekbones and below the eyebrows. My favorite thing about it is that it is natural and does not contain harmful chemicals.4
I was pretty excited to receive this today. I had been gawking over it for a month on Birchbox before I finally decided to break down and purchase. Alas, it arrived! To my dismay, I applied it on my face: temples/checks, bridge of nose, cupid's bow and brow bone but -- I saw nothing. I then decided to apply it to my hands with a very heavy finger and yet -- the spot just looked shiny. I get the idea that this is suppose to be a very light highlighter that isn't too noticeable, however I wasn't expecting it to be nonexistent. The living luminizer shows up more like a glossy look rather than a highlight. My co-worker and I played the game me walking under different lights and her yelling, "there!" when she could notice the glow. And even then it was VERY subtle. She has a darker complexion so I thought to try it on her and it showed up beautiful on her. She is a more chocolate skin tone -- just to give you reference. I am more of an olive skin tone. I really wanted
to love this. I'm sad that this didn't turn out as I hoped. The idea of a subtle highlighter that makes you look refreshed sounded amazing. Unfortunately, all I got was glossy :-/
Perhaps I will play with it a little more and see if I can get it to work but if not -- it looks like this best-selling product will be going back. Bummer.
I gave it two stars for the moisturizing factor. You lucked out on that one, Living Lum, lol.
I wanted to love this SO MUCH. I've heard wonderful things and read a lot of reviews. But my verdict is in: It's nice but not enough to justify the hefty price. First of all, it DOES NOT STAY ON YOUR FACE. I love how it looks right after you put it on the face but unfortunately it doesn't last very long.
I feel like there are more affordable products that does the job equally well. If you are concerned about the ingredient and doesn't mind splurging, go ahead. I returned it at the Birchbox store.
This has a nice shimmer, but it doesn't really soak in. I use it right under my eye lids where I won't smudge it accidentally.3
I cannot believe I paid $38 for this. It's totally fine, don't get me wrong, but I just don't think it's worth the price. It's really small for the price, too. I was really surprised at how small the pot was when it arrived.
I am somewhat of a minimalist for my daily makeup routine. This luminizer is subtle, not all shimmery and sparkly like some. I look instantly refreshed when I dab it on my eyelids and brow bones. The sample is huge.5
Very disappointed with this product even though I kept it.
For me, it doesn't spread evenly and is clumpy in spots.
I was debating for a while whether or not to keep. The box and jar had some gunk on it, and the lid was dented. It works okay, but is definitely like an oily lip balm. Very subtle. I would avoid putting it on areas where you're prone to break outs.3
