A quick primer: ceramides are lipid molecules found naturally in our skin. They work to bind skin cells together, sealing in moisture and blocking out harmful microbes. Unfortunately, as we age, our skin produces fewer ceramides, leading to dryness, loss of firmness, and other signs of aging. Enter Dr. Jart Ceramidin Liquid. Packed with a small army of ceramides, this derm-developed formula delivers a powerful dose of moisture, plus ingredients that strengthen and smooth skin for the long haul.
I purchased this product (full sized) and the companion product after first trying them out in the Help Me kit. I knew I wanted something to smooth up and 'youthen' my skin, so I perused the Birch Box reviews and decided to take the plunge on the Dr. Jart combo kit - Am I ever pleased! I didn't wait to run out of the smaller sizes before ordering the full size products.
The Skin Saver (ceramidin liquid) is the thinnner if the two, more of a serum than a lotion or cream. My skin absorbs it really quickly. I guess you don't HAVE to use the companion product, but I do. They are worth every penny! My skin is smooth, clear and feels (to me) more elastic. Mind you, my skin is nearly 47 years old and I spend quite a bit of time out of doors, so maybe I need a mini facial every day.
Caveat: DO NOT apply and then go out in the sun. Wear sunscreen or a product with SPF - your 'new skin' will be irratated. It only took me once to learn my lesson.
I love how lightweight and yet hydrating this product is on my aging (42) skin. I've noticed a difference in fine lines around my mouth and eyes. I use the serum morning and night and use in conjunction with the cream at night.5
I want to love this product....it goes on smooth, it feels good, its not heavy.....however, I didn't notice any significant difference in my skin. I get rosy red cheeks in the winter time, and dry patches around my chin and mouth. It helped the dry patches a little, but my not the redness of my skin. I also ran out of the cream pretty quickly before the liquid....I wish they gave you a bigger amount of the cream since I think most people with dry skin tend to use more of it. All in all, I think this may help some people but it really didn't help me.2
This is the best hydrator I have used. It is much thinner than normal lotions, but goes on smooth and instantly moisturizes your skin. The product is not sticky, nor does it leave your skin feeling heavy. Perfect for summer; excellent under heavier lotion for the winter.5
I love this product. It goes on smoothly and doesn't leave a greasy or shiny look. My skin looks smoother and plumper with each use. I have sensitive skin that can get red and this keeps never irritates it and gives my skin a soft healthy glow.
I use it after my serum and before my sunscreen and if I'm wearing a liquid base, I often mix it with this liquid to help the cover up go on smoothly and minimize fine lines.
I have never tried products from Dr. Jart+ before, so I didn't know what to expect. The Ceramidin Liquid is a watery gel - like texture, not at all as thick as I imagined. So far it has done a perfect job of moisturizing my combination skin, with no breakouts.5
I like this liquid. It seems to enhance the cream, however I would not use it alone. The cream is really the star of the pair.4
I received this sample in my November birchbox. I have very dry combination skin. I was using this product as a primer for my make up. I really like that it had a slight skin color tint to it as well.4
This isn't greasy on my face. I would use as a first items but must use another moisturizer on my face as well.
I really liked what I was able to try, I just wish the sample had given me more to try so I could really decide whether or not I would want to make a purchase4
