Can't decide between two nail polish hues? The pros at Ruby Wing have come up with a solution to the ultimate polish conundrum: color-changing polish. Wear one vibrant shade indoors, and embrace a totally different color when the sun's UV rays hit your nails, thanks to the brand's SolarActive® Technology. Each Ruby Wing polish is non-toxic, vegan, and environmentally safe—plus has a light floral scent
I received a sample in Kitten Heels. It is hot pink. It didn't change colors, although, to be fair, I tested it on a piece of paper because I refused to put that horrendous color on my nails. So, maybe it does work when you put in on your nails. Anyway, I think the color changing thing is silly for anyone who isn't a child.2
Every now and then I do my own nails....but NOT glitter. Why? Because I'm 31 and it just looks really young on me, especially at work. So I'll play around with this sample on the weekends - but it's SO glittery I just can't see myself using it normally.2
I never saw the color changing effect. To me it was just a basic glittery nail polish that unfortunately did not last very long.2
I must not have been in the sun enough because i didn't notice the change in color. Also, i didn't smell any "floral tones" - just smelled like nail polish. This bright pink color is made for someone who is a teenager, not something I'd buy for myself! Plus I mostly get my nails done, not do them myself. Would not purchase this. Nice that they give you such a large sample, but I doubt I will use it.2
I found the gold shade to turn red in the sun, not the orange/burnt color which is shown in the photos. It was very thick in application and if you miss your nail when it's clear you won't be able to tell, but, it shows up on your skin/cuticles when it turns red in the sun! I wasn't a fan of the red or the way the gold looked alone on my nail. Not my favorite.2
I got the bright pink/red combination. I love the pink color, but have yet to see the red. I've exposed it to the sun and nothing has happened. Also, it chips very easily, even with a no chip top coat!!! I will continue to use it because I love the pink and it's helping me kick these winter blahs, but not sure I would buy any additional colors!2
I was excited to see this product in my box and wanted to try it out as soon as I saw it in there. I have so many different colors of nail polishes and love adding to my collection. It was pretty cool that it was full size too! (Not sure if it was full size or not, but it seemed full size to me!) I quickly swiped the gold polish on one finger and left it on for the day just to see how it would look throughout the color changing process. Honestly it seemed as if the glitter stayed the same color and it was the clear polish part that changed colors. I'm sure if I would've put maybe 5 or 6 layers of polish on then that would've affected the color of the glitter, but just one layer wasn't enough to see full results.2
I don't understand why Birchbox has us give our age range if they're going to send out stuff like this. This really seems like something for children, except it's priced for adults. I gave it a shot, and it's an okay glitter polish.2
The change in the color was not drastic enough to wow me. Although this is a neat idea. This product should have been delivered during the summer, it may have had a bigger effect.2
I have both of these colors. I like the sparklie "ride em cowboy" shade. It's gold inside and turns to a nice ruby red outside. Changes colors quickly and stays on for a long time. That said, it's really hard to remove when you're ready to change colors. As for the "kitten heels" shade, I've been wearing it for a week and haven't ever noticed it change colors outside. The pink is a nice bright pink though. Only slight chipping after wearing it for a week.2
