Can't decide between two nail polish hues? The pros at Ruby Wing have come up with a solution to the ultimate polish conundrum: color-changing polish. Wear one vibrant shade indoors, and embrace a totally different color when the sun's UV rays hit your nails, thanks to the brand's SolarActive® Technology. Each Ruby Wing polish is non-toxic, vegan, and environmentally safe—plus has a light floral scent
I sampled the kitten heel color, and even though I would have been more excited about a different color, I was still interested to see how it worked. I live in a very sunny climate, so even though it is winter I had no trouble finding sunlight to try it out. It just never changed at all for me. I even tried covering one hand so I could compare, and nothing. I used 2 coats for the first test and added another one later.
That said, I do like the pink color and it has stayed on nicely for 3 days even without a top coat.
While this product is very fun, I do not think I will purchase. Glitter nail polish is often hard to get on evenly and I found that to be a struggle with this. I will most likely continue to use the sample, but not sure I would purchase on my own.2
This polish was good overall. Although I was not a fan of the gold color, I enjoyed the amount of sparkle!2
I didn't like the other colour of this exact product that Birchbox sent me and I dont like this one!2
I wasn't crazy about the color I received and felt like this polish chipped easily.2
I received the Kitten Heel (hot pink to scarlett) polish - perfect for Valentine's Day. I painted my nails Thursday night, and by Friday night they already chipped. I had to remove the polish entirely on Saturday. The color changing aspect was fun, though I hardly noticed a difference in the sun. The hot pink changed more to a coral, not the drastic change I was expecting.2
I received Kitten Heels this month and Ride Em Cowgirl the month before. I love the idea of color-changing nail polish but was not satisfied with these ones. The color differences were not significant enough.2
I am not too big on color changing nail polish's. When I received this in my Birch Box I was a little hesitant. The color was nice and the changing was a fun touch. I do not think I would ever buy it though. I am pretty plain when it comes to nail polish, but this one was a fun mix up to my usual choice.2
I was so excited to try this polish. I tried to open the bottle, but the top was stuck. I held the bottle under hot water to loosen up the cap and the bottle SHATTERED! Glitter, goo and glass were all over me, my sink and the few dishes in the sink. Because I wanted to try the polish so badly, I tried to salvage some, but it was too globby2
I've tried a few Ruby Wing shades but am sadly disappointed each time. Color Club (they own RW) is a fabulous brand with stunning shades and a quality formula, but I feel like it doesn't translate to Ruby Wing. I received "Kitten Heels" this time, which is a shade that is pretty bight compared to what I usually wear and the shade it turns into wasn't that different or thrilling either. Also, I've found that all RW polishes I have tried generally take upwards of 3-5 coats to receive full opacity, which is annoying since I like my polishes opaque. I feel that this line is better suited for young girls just now venturing into the polish world as the novelty and lacking-quality just aren't for me.2
