Can't decide between two nail polish hues? The pros at Ruby Wing have come up with a solution to the ultimate polish conundrum: color-changing polish. Wear one vibrant shade indoors, and embrace a totally different color when the sun's UV rays hit your nails, thanks to the brand's SolarActive® Technology. Each Ruby Wing polish is non-toxic, vegan, and environmentally safe—plus has a light floral scent
I wasn't that into this nail polish. Maybe its because I am a gel polish kind of gal, but I thought it was just ok.3
I was so disappointed I didn't get this in my birch box...so I bought one myself. I got the groupie color, and although pretty different than shown online - I really like the color. Indoors it is a pretty bright (almost) neon pink and outdoors in turns into a darker raspberry color. I'm not sure why so many people had issues applying, I thought it applied very easily/well. It might be in my head but it seems like the color changing works better in my toes (maybe because I didn't use a base coat in my toes)5
I like how the nail polish is scented. It is a little overwhelming but I love it. I am thinking of getting more colors.5
this nail polish reminded me of all the cool color-changing fads of my childhood...sunglasses, mood rings, and even those jelly sandals! the poppy color is a nice pink, and is an even better burgundy color in the sun. the lovely rose smell is also an added bonus! i love it so much i got the peony as well!5
I must say I can't stop looking down at my nails. Especially when I step outside. The color changes within seconds! I love this product. It makes polishing nails fun and I get non stop compliments about the color.5
there are a couple of aspects I really enjoyed about my experience using Ruby Wing color-changing nail polish, but it definitely had drawbacks: strong pros & strong cons. First off, a unique product. I, like a lot of others, was really excited to see this product first on the Birch Box site, then in my April box. I literally bookmarked this as a favorite 3 days before it came in the mail.. I had on my eye on it as something to maybe spend some of my BB pts on. I love (and own about a million) nail polish colors.. so always looking for a new shade/justification to acquire more. With a unique concept (color-changing, as well as scented!) this polish fit the bill. Love the classic color combos (so girly & posh) offered on the BB site.. if you look up the company Ruby Wing, you will see there are actually a LOT of other color combos, some look extremely fun & trendy --- but for the first time using this product, I was happy to be using a popularized, common nail color (vs. something more wild) --- I have the hot pink/plum combo called 'Poppy.' I have to give this product a 3, I'm sad to say. I wanted to love this product b/c it is a super FUN idea! A great concept for Summer when we're all out in the sun! I imagined it as awesome on toes + cute sandals! HOWEVER --- the formula is disastrously streaky. B/c I am such an avid polish collector/user, I was able to neatly apply 3 coats + topcoat and get it to look decent-ish.. but for a novice/someone less experienced, this product would be disastrously frustrating (and they'd probably want to give it a 2 or 1 rating). I am glad I didn't pay for this product and got it as a sample, I don't feel like I wasted my money so I am likely to give this polish a couple more chances and play around w/ application techniques & basecoats/topcoats. The scent is comparable to other scented nail polishes (ex: Revlon scented polishes, the Betsey Johnson Too Too perfumed polish, etc..) it is meant to be smelled dry on the nails (not wet out of the bottle). Once on, it did change in the sunlight the way it was supposed to. Not sure how it would work on a cloudy or overcast day. Not sure how it chips either as I didn't wear it longer than 48hrs (I like to change nail color frequently, lol). In conclusion: this product is okay, average. Cool concept, bad formula.3
I really like the smell of this nail polish... smells like flowers. and it really works. I had a great couple of days with it... but it started chipping REALLY bad on day 3. i'm gonna try a stronger top coat on it next time.4
While I really love the original melon-y color of "peony", it definitely takes a few or more coats to completely cover my nails with color. I just don't have that kind of time to spend on painting my nails. But I will for sure use this when I have the time to give myself a pampering spa day.3
I love the color of the polish and how it changes colors with the sunlight, however the consistency is very thick. However, even though the consistency is thick, it takes a lot of coats to see the color. It also dries matte, so if you wanted a shiny color you'll definitely need a top coat. I still love the color and would love to buy this products.4
I love this nail polish! It was perfect coverage with two coats. It really changes color in the sunshine, and fast! It dries matte so it needs a good top coat.5
