Can't decide between two nail polish hues? The pros at Ruby Wing have come up with a solution to the ultimate polish conundrum: color-changing polish. Wear one vibrant shade indoors, and embrace a totally different color when the sun's UV rays hit your nails, thanks to the brand's SolarActive® Technology. Each Ruby Wing polish is non-toxic, vegan, and environmentally safe—plus has a light floral scent
I got this to share with my daughter as I thought she'd have fun with the color change. It did not disappoint! The color changes in sunlight outside, not through a window. The change is quick and noticeable.
The Peony colors aren't really accurate on my computer screen or in the description, but that's OK with me because I like the actual better! The indoor color is more coral and quite bright - fun but not particularly sophisticated. As an adult, I'd wear on my toes, but not on my fingers to the office. (My daughter loves how bright it is.) The outdoor shade is more of a fuchsia than the orange undertoned red I see on my screen - it's actually quite pretty.
The formula is not up to snuff with my usual polishes (essie, OPI, etc.) - after three thinish coats, I managed to get rid of almost all streakiness, but you can still see through enough to detect the shift to the white of my nails. It also feels not as hard when dry as my other polishes. But it is fun, especially for summer toes. My daughter likes it very much.
This polish went on horribly, so badly I didn't want to try and go outside and see if it would change color. It went on patchy after 3 coats.1
I didnt get this in my box, but a close friend did and was kind enough to let me borrow it. I absolutely love the color and pigment in this polish! only took one coat to do my toes and definitely lasts. My only quam would be the applicator, just because i am a big fan of the sally hansen style flatter applicators.. Ill definitely be looking into more colors!4
I really like the polish. My only annoyance is it does go a bit streaky and needs about 3 coats (for the peach to pink shade) but it is still very nice.5
The nail polish is a bright, summer neon color! I like the color, and I like the matte, non-glossy finish. Great for summer. The only thing that bugs me is it took 3 coats to get it to look decent. Even with the 3-4 coats, it still looks streaky. The color changing is cool too. I like the bright, neon orange to start, but it never changes to a true ruby red that I was expecting. It changes to a hot pink color, which I like too, just not what I was expecting. I would consider buying it, it doesn't chip easily which is a huge plus.3
I received the poppy color in my Birchbox today and I adore the shade! It's bright, but not overwhelming, and the alternative color is equally lovely. I have very fair skin and the color complimented it well.
The nail polish applies a little bit thicker than I'm used to (OPI, Essie & Butter London are my usual go to's), but it dried SO quickly! I love it.
This polish is really sheer in the color I got, I like the color changing but I would rather have something opaque.4
I think this is a fun product for spring! Seems like quality polish3
I have never ever had polish chip this badly, even cheapo kinds.1
I like this polish for the interesting color change effect, but I am not in love with the indoor OR the outdoor color. Another shade might be better. For me, it's fun that it changes colors, but I have a lot of nail polishes already, so I probably won't buy this.4
