Can't decide between two nail polish hues? The pros at Ruby Wing have come up with a solution to the ultimate polish conundrum: color-changing polish. Wear one vibrant shade indoors, and embrace a totally different color when the sun's UV rays hit your nails, thanks to the brand's SolarActive® Technology. Each Ruby Wing polish is non-toxic, vegan, and environmentally safe—plus has a light floral scent
I'm not a huge fan of the color-changing glitter polish. Though I was really into the glitter trand a year or two ago, it feels a bit outdated to me at this point, and while the color really did change (which was pretty awesome!), it was only the polish that changed and not also the glitter color of the polish, which looked weird. A fun concept, and maybe I would have preferred it had I not gotten the glitter version, but this one felt a bit too childish for me.2
Glitter polishes tend to go on my nails smoothly and give me trouble coming off. Hoping to avoid this, I used a buff-natural color nail polish as a base coat, then used the Ruby Wing color changing polish (Ride 'Em Cowgirl) on top of it.
My manicurist uses a "stippling" effect when using glitter polish, tapping the brush down the surface of the nail to get a high-impact glittery effect. I did that with this product and the gold color was very vibrant. The color change takes place in direct sunlight only so at first I thought I had been sent a dud bottle.
In the direct sunlight, suddenly, the gold took on a rose-gold tone which was beautiful but the changing color was not evenly placed, probably because it wasn't apparent when I polished my nails with the "stippling" technique. The product also chipped from the tips of my nails very easily. This wasn't so apparent when it was gold but when it turned rose-colored my manicure looked busted.
Last, when I used polish remover to clear my nails the glitter clung terribly and had to be worked off with a coarse emery board.
I will try the product in a pedicure where tip-chipping won't be such an issue. Not so sure I would want to purchase more of this product for my hands.
This nail polish is really fun. I wore in while in Florida on vacation and it totally works! I felt like a little kid when I saw the polish change colors; I was surprised that it made such a drastic change in the shade and in the sun. This shade is very sparkly and the only issue I have with it is that it was difficult to take off. Those sparkles wanted to stay on my nails!4
product does actually change color and is a cool idea, was just executed poorly. the nail polish was not really great quality. didn't go on nicely, didn't stay on long, scratched easily.3
I LOVE THIS NAIL POLISH!! I recieved the almost neon pink one in my box and this is perfect for me! That color is all I wear on my toes! It is long lasting with almost no chipping! Thanks for sending me this! Ruby Wing is definitely a close competitor with OPI!!5
I think this is a great idea! I was thrilled to sample and will buy more. The nail polish really works!5
I thought this was kind of cool. The orange color that i got was not my favorite but the overall product is actually kind of fun. I liked it!4
I liked this nail polish because it changed from pink to red when in the sun. It was fun to watch change, but it wasn't as significant of a change as I was hoping for!3
I got the kitten heels color as my sample and was amazed to see how cool it looks when it changes colors!!! Plus the hot pink is super cute, I get tons of compliments whenever I where it :)4
I have the glitter one which is pretty gooey and thick. Beautiful color when it goes on but I had to apply many coats and with such a small sample bottle it uses up a lot of polish.3
