Can't decide between two nail polish hues? The pros at Ruby Wing have come up with a solution to the ultimate polish conundrum: color-changing polish. Wear one vibrant shade indoors, and embrace a totally different color when the sun's UV rays hit your nails, thanks to the brand's SolarActive® Technology. Each Ruby Wing polish is non-toxic, vegan, and environmentally safe—plus has a light floral scent
I love the color (hot pink), have yet to see it change colors, most likely due to the lack of sun where I live. The polish also chipped after only 2 days of being on my toes3
So far, I'm loving this nail polish! It's lasted on my nails for a while and the color is great!5
This probably got me most excited about this month's box. I didn't read the card when I first got my box so I thought it was just a pretty nail polish until I browsed the birchbox site!5
i had seen these on birchbox when i joined because i like nail polish so the first thing i did was see what they had to offer, so i was thrilled when we got this as a sample, and even more thrilled that i got poppy, as that is the one i would have chosen. when i was applying it, it seemed like one coat was good-- actually preferred, because anywhere i did have to go over got really gloppy.. then it dried to a horrible matte and i was bummed. i dont mind matte, but it made the globbiness VERY obvious. i did my hands and feet, so i decided to leave my toes matte but couldnt stand the look of it on my hands so applied a top coat. surprisingly, that evened out all of the globbiness! it also dried to a different color than it looks in the bottle.. maybe one shade darker and half a shade redder, still quite neon (which i like). in the sun, it took maybe 30 seconds but became a nice plum! it was pretty cool.. but became very apparent that two coats are necessary (and as the top coat evened out the globbiness, i think it will be okay). i just put it on like an hr ago so i cant really speak to the wear and tear. the formula is a pain, so i dont think i will wear it often, and probably not purchase, but i think the sample will be fun to use on my toes during sandal season!
oh, and its supposed to be scented? it was kind of a strong chemically nail polish smell, i actual started coughing at one point.
I totally love the idea behind color changing polish but this one didn't quite do it for me. The color didn't go on very well and had a dull finish to it. I had to add a glossy clear top coat for it to look remotely decent. The color changed really well for the first day or two, but it stopped changing colors after a few days and just stayed the bright pink color. The polish also chipped really easily, even with a top coat on. If I were going to buy $10 nail polish, I wouldn't buy this one.3
Cool polish that changes color in the sun. Can wait to wear this dark sexy color this summer5
I usually LOVE the nail polish samples that are included with my Birch Box, but not this time. I was sent the Peony color and I have to say I have NEVER seen a peony quite this shade of...neon orange? Once on, it reminded me of a 1980s bright orange. I painted both toenails and fingernails and when I was finished, I was sorry I spent the time. The application was not smooth and the very next day the paint began to chip and peel off (I did not choose to use a top coat since I didn't really like the color, but I was still surprised at how quickly it began to peel). I will say that even though I didn't care for the color, I did receive two compliments -- so, maybe some do like an orange polish.1
What a novel idea however it did not stay on well. I like other polishes better. This was really an intersting product. I think younger girls will get a thrill out of this.3
I couldn't believe that this nail polish really work. I loved it and kept testing the color changing abilities. but I nail polish did chip after one day of it being worn.4
I thought that this was a fun nail polish, although I didn't really notice any color changing. I thought at first that it was heat activated and stuck my hands under cold water to try and get a different color. I was outside a little bit, but it's been cloudy so that might account for the lack of color change. It goes on pretty matte, which is nice, as I don't have any other matte nail polishes.4
