These small-batch jams have been a favorite of New Yorkers since Sarabeth Levine starting making them from her Manhattan apartment. Luckily for the rest of the world, the one-woman operation is now a global empire. We eat these all-natural preserves straight from the jar Tom Sawyer-style, paired with almond butter on whole wheat for a healthy riff on PB&J, or as a jewel-toned filling in holiday cookies.
I was really hoping to love this, seeing as I love jams and preserves, and I used my birchbox points on it. But it was not very good. It was bitter and gritty. If you like sweet thrown into your morning, I'd say choose something else. Cute label though.2
The flavor was there but the consistency was a little hard for me. I like my jams to be very spreadable and this one was not. Jelly was slightly tough to spread and that was a turn off.3
I tried this jam in both mixed berry and raspberry. While tasty, the texture was a bit thinner than I prefer for a jam so it was a little runny.3
Like the title says, a little too sweet, but it's good. I don't think I would buy it again, though.3
I got two samples of this jam in my limited edition home box last year, and it's very yummy. Not much different than what I can get at Trader Joe's, though, so it's probably not something I would buy through birchbox.com.3
I received this as part of my garden box, and I do love jam. I thought it looked very pure, but I found the taste to be faint. I was expecting a stronger flavor.3
So, I got this to pad my BB order to round out my point usage. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. I got the marmalade version - and it was chunky, sweet (as expected), and had solid bits of orange zest in there.4
i like it, its a little gritty every now and then but its good other than that. my fiance however will have this jar gone in 2 or 3 more days haha.4
I originally just bought this to get my purchase total high enough to take advantage of a free gift. It's pretty yummy. by the way. I don't know if I'll buy it again, but if you're looking for a little pick me up strawberry/rasberry goodness for your morning toast, I recommend this.4
This is a spreadable fruit, which is exactly what it's name says, but for some reason I still thought it would be more like preserves. So I was surprised when I popped the lid off to try it. It's not as chunky as preserves and it's bit less stiff than jelly, but you won't really care once you taste it. I ordered the Strawberry Raspberry spread, which was fruity but not overly sweet. I spread it onto whole wheat toast just to try it. I had to use a little more than expected to get the coverage and flavor I wanted and because it is on the thinner side. It's very tasty though plus it's made right her in the USA! ( Bronx, NY) I love the fact that the only ingredients are strawberries, sugar, raspberries, and lemon juice. No artificial anything! On my second taste, I would like to try it again on a scone which I think would blend better with the fruit and texture.4
