Fun fact: There are reportedly 17,000 websites dedicated to Aishwarya Rai and her mesmerizing eyes. Snag a little bit of the Bollywood legend's look with these eye-brightening cream shadows from Indian-inspired brand Sumita. The easy-to-use pencils let you contour and line like a pro, while the pretty shades add instant drama. The long-lasting formula clings to lids and has a subtle (not over-the-top) shimmer.
I tend to prefer powder shadows, but since this was in my box I figured I'd try it. I received Jasmin, the pink color. It is not really a baby pink, but more of a bright shade. At least on my fair skin it showed up hot pink. It was easy to blend, however, and I was able to tone it down a little bit with just my fingertips. Paired with navy liner it was flirty and great for a festival weekend.3
The bright shade of pink has me not loving this - wish it came in colors that I would actually use every day. However, the application of this eyeshadow was nice and went on smooth.3
I received the green color in my April birch box. I did swatch the color and the consistency seemed very smooth and creamy but the color is something I would not use on my eyes. I have fair skin and brown eyes and usually stick to neutrals or purples. I want to say I wish I got a different color but all the colors seem to be a bit bright for my taste. I can see this working really well on someone with a darker complexion.3
I love the thought of the pencil and the way it goes on, but unfortunately I received it in pink. Who wears pink eyeshadow? no me :(3
I received the purple color in my box this month. What they describe as a "vivid violet" is a sheer pastel purple. Not gonna lie, I was not a fan of the color at all. I can't comment on the other colors, but this one was quite sheer without much color payoff. It was also very shimmery- too much for my liking really but someone else might not care. Much more shimmery than it appears in the stick however. I wore this over 8 hours without a primer, and I would say I have oily eyelids. There was a slight amount of creasing by then, but it was difficult to say for sure as it was so sheer. The coverage was not build-able as rather than adding another layer a second application would just start to remove the underlying layer. The pencil allowed a relatively easy application. I have a feeling that my opinion would've likely have been different with one of the more opaque colors. It smells terribly, but that really doesn't bother me for something I apply to my eye.3
I really liked the concept but the color was electric blue. Would be great to be able to state colors that I would use3
I don't normally wear eye shadow but this is a very pretty color and goes on quite smooth.3
The pencil is a good size, and the formula slides on well. There's a deal of shimmer, but the color (Tej) is too subtle for my tastes. I would consider other colors in the collection after testing if they had a bit more payoff.3
This eye shadow is a nice consistency and the pigment is great, however I have red hair and received the bright pink- which is probably the one color I could never wear.3
I have to admit, I was a little freaked out when I saw a purple sparkly pencil in my birchbox, but this turned out to be a great product! It was perfect for a quick transition from work to happy hour. My only gripe is that it doesn't last very long and because the pencil is so think, it was hard to not get it on my lashes.3
