Curly-haired girls don’t want crispy, crunchy locks or undefined frizz. This gel, which is made specifically for thick, textured, and hard-to-manage curls, strikes a perfect balance. The results? Defined, bouncy curls that will have you packing up your blow dryers and flat irons for good.
I feel like this separated my curls and made them stringy instead of making them big and bouncy. Weird texture too. Kind of straw like. I prefer their Curl Cream.2
Maybe this product works for people with thinner/lighter hair, but I have to use so much it just gets sticky. The "crust" never formed and it made my hair feel really coarse. Also, my hair was still frizzy.2
This wasn't the perfect answer I was hoping for. It works okay, but my thick coarse wavy/curly hair is still poofy and frizzy after using. I used for a couple months and applied in different ways in order to try to find a method that worked. (They definitely mean it when the instructions say to apply to wet hair. When I tried to tame a few frizz flyaways on dry hair it made my hair dull, and didn't tame anything.) Unfortunately, never found the perfect secret and went back to my previous gel that is not perfect, but better.3
I really love this product the first day I use it. The fragrance and feel are really nice....super soft curls. The only problem I have is days two and three (I avoid shampoo every day). There is no hold at all and I need to apply a lot of other products to bring my hair back to life.3
I liked this product and found that after following its directions it did give a very nice, soft natural curl. However, I think my hair, in particular, needs a bigger "boost" for the curl to actually "take". Although, I would definitely recommend for quite curly hair or those seeking a beachy waved look.3
The gel holds curls fairly well, but not any better than the products I find at half, or even a quarter of the price. I go through the same process with each use, but still get varying results. It is definitely hydrating, but I think in the future I will invest my haircare dollars into a different product.3
I used this product for about six months after being introduced to it at a Devachan Salon. Although it did help some with curl development, I had two major problems with it. The first problem was that, even though my curls were pretty solid (I have thin, fine hair, so my curls are pretty variable), it did nothing to address the frizz factor. In fact, I thought it made my frizz worse. Also, I found it made my skin itch terribly. I like the other Deva products, but this one did not work for me.3
I looked the way my curls looked when I tried the product with the no poo shampoo and the conditioner but after my hair tried it still felt like there was stuff in my hair. I loved how my hair looked but it didn't feel the way I wished it would.3
I really hate how the diva products smell as a whole, but this gel was particularly bad to me. I used the diva products for a couple years and it just never felt like it was enough. I also experienced kind of crunchy curls - i stopped using. Maybe they have improved in the last few years.3
I have been using DevaCurl gel since I hit puberty, and I never leave the house without this product on my hair. It does not leave your hair looking crunchy or wet, but it has a noticeable impact on the shininess and bounciness of your curls. When paired with an oil, it frizz without leaving your hair feeling hard or greasy.4
