To (very loosely) paraphrase Clueless's lead heroine Cher Horowitz, "Trying to find a lightweight, nongreasy sunscreen is like trying to find meaning in a Pauly Shore movie." In other words, nearly impossible. That is, until we discovered this mineral-rich formula from CoTZ. Silky-smooth to the touch, the formula blends in quickly and leaves behind a sheer matte finish. It's free of oil, harsh chemicals, and fragrances, and won't upset sensitive skin. Best for medium skin tones, the complexion-matching formula blends in seamlessly and masks minor flaws.
Received a tube of this in my Birchbox this month, and was very excited to try it. I have very fair, sensitive skin; so sunscreen is a daily staple for me. I'm fairly happy with my current facial sunscreen, but would like to be able to use one that relies on physical ingredients (titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) as opposed to chemical sunscreens. The problem with most physical sunscreen lotions are consistency, white tint, and smell. Most sunscreens containing zinc or titanium are thick, goopy, and hard to spread.
I'm happy to announce that this sunscreen has NONE of those problems! The consistency is a bit odd at first: something like whipped chocolate mousse. It was surprising, but I found it was easy to spread on my skin and felt great once on. Not heavy or greasy or shiny at all. The odor? There is none! No beach-y smell, no flower-y perfume-y smell. My skin looks matte, yet feels softer and moisturized. All in all, a great sunscreen!
But... the tint is definitely not for those of us with fair skin. My skin looked slightly dirty after applying. It's just too dark for me. I will happily repurchase in a lighter tone though. The cost is definitely worth it to me.
Maybe it's because I'm a guy, but I don't really notice a difference using this stuff vs. other similar products. It didn't smell terrible, though, which is my usual complaint when it comes to sunblock.4
My husband wanted to like this,I wanted him to like it too. But, IT looks like foundation coming out and going on. My husband thinks it looks like he is wearing makeup when he put it on, so he quickly washed it off. If u are a guy who doesn't like to look like he is wearing foundation/makeup, this is NOT the product for you.1
This is a good product but I don't feel like I can use it and also wear makeup.3
I liked the idea of this, but had it been just a regular lotion, as in no shade thrown in (no shade ha) Maybe I am just not with the times, but I am more used to regular SPF lotion. Scent was nice, didn't feel weighed down.3
I didn't really notice the tinting that people were talking about, even though I'm pale. Perhaps I didn't use enough. It went on very clean and wasn't greasy at all, but I didn't get to try it in the sun so I can't speak to effectiveness. This is just not a product I'm willing to spend a big chunk of change on.3
Good consistency, and spf 40 is always appreciated.4
I liked the feel of it going on, and it seemed to work but wearing it felt a little heavy, a bit like wearing makeup, so not for me.4
great smell, nice texture, but the tint was a little too much for me- fortunately me niece will love it!3
I enjoyed the package and the quality of the product. It is not something that I would buy regularly, although had a nice texture and scent and went on the skin nicely.3
