Miss Jessie's® is known as "The Proven Expert in Curls" for a reason, and when it comes to managing our curly hair (which often seems to have a mind of its own), we could certainly use a dash of expertise. This cult favorite is specifically formulated to leave hair supersoft and crunch-free, while delivering enough hold and definition to keep frizz at bay on even the most humid summer days. Bonus: The gentle gel won't affect any chemical treatments.
I read a lot of great reviews about Jelly Soft Curls, but I wanted to wash it out of my hair as soon as possible. I have large spiral curls that tend to get frizzy easily. I have never had much luck with gels, and always stick to mousse, but gave it a try because it came in my box. This product made my curls feel very sticky, and they were not well-formed, but more like a giant frizzy nest. I tried it again, thinking that maybe I used too much product, but got the same results. It's just not for me.
On the positive side, it did smell nice!
The smell of this is so strong I could hardly wear it long enough to tell if it worked. I immediately felt like washing my hair because of the smell.1
This had such great reviews, I had to get it. I hate crunchy curls and thought this could be a perfect solution to let my hair dry naturally!
But, I'm quite disappointed with its performance. It smells bad, is super sticky and did nothing to hold curl in my hair. Yes, my hair was soft, as advertised, but it was also a fluffy, shapeless and frizzy mess. I've tried varying amounts of the product and letting it air dry or blow drying it--the results are always the same. I would not recommend this if your curls are not already well-behaved without product.
Now I have this enormous tube that I have no plans to use!!
I had high hopes for this product. Each time I used this product, it left my hair straighter (probably from applying it to "not wet" hair, as per instructions) and just as frizzy and unruly as without product. The product gave my medium-length, medium-tight curly hair no structure at all. Buyer's remorse.1
I was really excited about getting to try this, but was not at all impressed. While it didn't make my hair "crunchy" it did weight it down. My hair felt greasy, not soft.1
This product may work for other types of hair. I have naturally curly hair and straighten it about half the time. Typically I use a non- aerosol spray that works well but leaves the bathroom sticky. Was hoping this would work. It did not hold the curl well enough. After a few hours my hair was frizzy.1
My 3a/b curls like gel to weigh them down and give them structure, so I was excited to try a product that promised "soft" curls from a reputable product line. My curls were so crispy after air drying! Tried with diffuser to same results. Less product and my hair would be half frizzy half crispy. Lose-lose. :(1
I ordered this with high hopes but was very disappointed. This product didn't work at all as I expected it to- it left my hair looking greasy but still frizzy. It didn't define or help keep my curls shaped in any way. As the day went on my hair just got frizzier and bigger.1
This was one of the worst curl products I've tried. It made my hair soft, but in a way that made my curls extra frizzy and look like I had used no product at all - but even worse. On top of the product being useless, the sample packaging was one of those foil packages you tear to open, so I could only use it once, even though there was enough product for 2-3 uses.1
I do not use hair gel. The product wasn't one to cause me to switch. I would not use this product again.1
