If you can't pop into Baxter's L.A. barbershop—a throwback with vintage porcelain chairs and hot towel treatments—this shave cream is the next best thing. A smooth, spreadable formula provides a protective barrier for skin and ensures a smooth shave. Tea tree oil, witch hazel, menthol, and peppermint prevent razor burn while leaving behind the signature tingle of a shave well-done.
I purchased this product after loving other Baxter of California products. For the record, it does provide a great shave. The scent is nice, and it feels great on the face. My only criticism of the product is the lather. You have to use a lot of the product to get a decent amount of lather on the face. It is almost like a lotion. It will not lather properly in my badger hair shave brush. Instead, I have to use my hand to apply the product.3
I wasn't crazy about the texture of this formula at first but after using it, I'm hooked. It goes on thick so I wouldn't recommend caking it on. A little definitely goes a long way. Very smooth shave. 5+ stars.5
I really liked this shave lotion -- it had a nice tingle on my skin and felt very smooth. I wish I could have gotten more of a lather from it, though. I don't have a shave brush and just applied it with my hands, so it might be better with a different application.4
I love Baxter's products but I was incredibly disappointed with this one. Did not provide a close shave. At all. I got that it's not going to lather like a traditional cream but it wasn't moisturizing enough and left my skin irritated after shaving. Tried both brush and hands. But it did have a clean smell to it. Sticking with my proraso1
I'm bald and therefore shave my entire head as well as my face. Consequently I have a tendency to experiment with a lot of shave products looking for a smooth shave. I received this as a promotional sample and must confess this is probably the best product I've encountered so far. Seriously, I'll be back to pay money for this stuff.5
I think there's a misnomer that we have after being inundated for years with canned shave products that came out white and fluffy, or as a gel that lathered up. It's not all shave cream, and the brands would do themselves a favor to not identify as that. This product is more of a lotion than a cream. Like others, on my first use I was confused by the lack of lather, so I went to the Baxter website for additional direction. The brush that they recommend is to help lift your hairs, not create a lather. For my second use I squirted into the palm of my hand and was able to better prep my brush with product. I felt like i used more than my normal foaming cream.4
This is the only shaving cream I will use. Leaves my skin feeling very soft.5
It's not a bad product, but I have used better shave creams for less money. I'll stick with my Proraso for now.3
I'm a big fan of Baxter of California products and this was no different. Not a huge lather but goes on thick and provides a really nice shave.5
I have to say this stuff is really great. The smell reminds me of an expensive professional shave at a barber. It really provides a smooth barrier for your skin and allows you to get a foolproof shave.5
