While we have a soft spot for the disco balls of middle school dances, we’re nonetheless glad to see that glitter’s all grown up. This sophisticated lacquer by Deborah Lippmann is almost as mesmerizing as the classic Beatles song. The transparent deep blue base is clustered with tiny iridescent turquoise, green, and blue chips, which, to paraphrase Mr. Lennon, will shine around you like a million suns.
The color was great, but it took forever to get the polish off. I ended up soaking my nails in a bowl of nail polish remover for 15 minutes before all the glitter would finally come off.3
I really love this polish and received so many compliments on it. It goes on a little light, so 3 coats will get you ample coverage on your nails. It started chipping after a day or so but I didn't use a top coat and I painted my nails at work so it was rushed...lol! But if done correctly and with ample time, i'm sure it could have lasted longer with no chips. but i'm very happy with this polish!4
For some reason I have awful luck with Deborah Lippmann nail polish. This makes me mad because she has the best colors. I've tried a few nudes and a red and the consistency has always been thick.
This shade was part of the gift bag at a work event and is one of my favorite polishes I've used in awhile. Clearly not for everyday corporate America but really easy to use and take off if you only do 2 coats.
As with any glitter polish, you have to be careful with the application to ensure you get to your level of sparkle. Patience is required to get every piece of glitter in the right spot if going for a top coat look and also if you are a full on coverage sparkle kind of girl. I am the latter and you just have to take care in almost setting the polish on your nail rather than brushing it on.4
Love this nail varnish, the color of the glitter in it is JUST so beautiful. I got sooo many compliments when I wore it on my nails. Very satisfied and very worth the money!4
This is gorgeous nail color. However it takes at least three coats of polish to cover opaque. In addition it is very streaky to apply. I still love it.4
Gorgeous, because of the jelly polish base and the way it layers, each nail becomes a deep sea glitter-fest that seems to swim in and out of view at different angles. I've never owned anything like this before in my 26 years, and it dries far more consistently that I expected. 4 layers with a good base and a nice thick topcoat make this really shine.
You can also try wearing it over a dark polish to bring out the microglitter!
I love this polish. I usually don't use glittery polishes since they are so hard to remove, not this one. Across the Universe is an amazing look over dark colored base. And it has become my favorite nail polish.5
I was nervous about ordering this one. I purchased Let's Go Crazy a few months ago and I was disappointed. This experience was the complete opposite.
I did my nails with this on Tuesday or Wednesday. One coat of some other polish in a dark shimmery blue, then one coat of Across the Universe over it. No top coat. Today is Sunday and there's minimal, noticeable only to me, chipping just today. My nails are still beautiful. Every time I see them I feel happy. They catch the light in the most amazing ways. I have received the most amazing compliments on my nails this week. One person even told me that I looked like a walking work of art including my nails and my hair (which is also blue at present.)
The formula goes on very nice. If I have a complaint it is that this polish seems to take FOREVER to dry. I had to fix a few mess ups when I did my nails initially. I find that a little bit limiting, because I do my nails in the evening and sometimes I doze off after doing so. In this case, I nodded off and when I woke up a short time later a couple of them had to be fixed and they were all still far from dry. But if you can just control yourself from tryng to do anything at all till your nails are dry...the result is spectacular.
This one is completely worth the splurge. My best Xmas gift to myself.
It's beautiful on its own, but also fantastic layered. Try it over Deborah Lippmann's Mermaid's Dream for a really rich effect.5
