The idea of bright green nail polish can make even the boldest of us take a moment of pause. Fear not, the style gurus behind NYC-based fashion label RUFFIAN would never lead us astray. Inspired by those dolla, dolla bills, Hedge Fund is a green foil polish with a strong metallic finish and a hint of gold shimmer that really pops when the light hits it just right. It’s safe to say, this lacquer’s right on the money.
A great color with shimmer ,just fabulous. It's not like any other nail polish. It has shimmer but not to much just enough to look sophisticated .5
This is fun, wintery color! It goes on smoothly and lasts a pretty decent amount of time. I would buy this product again.4
Didn't think I would like the green but it's not too green it's very neautral and not to shimmery! I love it and plan to buy more from this collection.5
I loved how smooth it was and I think it's better for lighter toned people. Looks a little dreary on me since I'm a little darker3
A few things I love about this nail polish, you only need one coat (literally), it goes on smoothly and is easy to apply, and the color is wonderful.
My self-manicure lasts for at least a week. I will definitely be purchasing RUFFIAN again, it's the best polish I have used to date.
to me nail polishes are all pretty much the same. I mean if you spend more than $5 on a bottle they're all gonna be comparable to one another. This was a pretty color--a very feminine army-greenish color, great for fall. And it was decently opaque so I only needed one coat, though if I'd done two I'm sure it would have lasted longer.4
In my September birch box, I received the Ruffian nail polish in the color hedge fund, which is a metallic, shimmery green. It's a pretty color, it just does not work for my style and my coloring unfortunately. The formula seems pretty good, I don't know how long it says on though because I haven't kept it on yet.3
I got the orange in my monthly delivery and loved the formula (not the color.....too orange) so I bought this one and the Naked shade. This shade of green is so awful. My daughter said I should wear it at Halloween and go as a witch! The Naked shade was awful too. I wish they would come out with some more shades because I love the formula but the colors are too out there.1
I received Hedge Fund in my September 2013 Birch Box. I have light to medium toned olive skin and this color was perfect. Its a darker green with gold - I received a lot of compliments. The bottle shape works well for applying the polish and I like the size. Also, the polish lasted almost 2 weeks without any chips! I was so amazed. I use a different brand of base coat and top coat with 2 coats of the Ruffian polish. I have done the same regime with other high end nail polish and they did not last two weeks without chipping. I went ahead and bought the exclusive set and can't wait to try out the Ruffian manicure. I highly recommend this polish - if you do not like the color, get a different one - it lasts and lasts.5
Hooray for army green just as all this punk rock look comes out! The slight hint of gold in the polish is just right.
Polish itself is nice and thick, and I had to force two thin coats before putting on my magic topcoat. I am worried that the thickness at the "brand new" phase will lead to the polish not aging very well down the road in a month or two. I'll try to remember to try it again and re-review it later.
I will say that my first manicure with the polish took a beating. I worked a long, hard weekend at a music festival and the polish wore quite well. It actually didn't start chipping until day five. Not bad at all, Ruffian, not bad at all.
I do appreciate that the bottles are smaller, as it has been pointed out a few times, people would rarely use an entire bottle of polish before it goes bad, but the price point being well above some very well known couture and limited edition brands will make Ruffian's polish a hard sell to us polish junkies.
