There’s a reason the best bartenders use oversize ice cubes—and it’s not just because a giant block of ice looks really cool. The lower the surface area, the slower the ice melts, thus keeping your favorite drink colder (and purer) longer. In other words, with this set of spherical silicone molds, your go-to smoky Laphroaig has finally met its match.
The concept is great, but I find that it leaves a film within the glass and makes my scotch taste "chemically". Tried using with filtered water, washing it by hand, even soaking it for a while - nothing worked. Not worth the money (sad to say).1
Wasn't very impressed. I tried all of the recommended ways to freeze and still found the ice cracked on most occasions.2
These are fun! Love them in my drink as it doesn't make the rink all watery. Sometimes its hard to get them out of the mold, and the ball usually breaks in half as it melts. But I still they are better than several cubes of ice.4
I have to admit I actually used this product for non-whiskey liquors. The size and shape of the ice cube made for a deliciously frozen cold drink and I was very pleased. Easy to use.4
I bought this for my fiance, as he is a big scotch and whiskey drinker. He really likes this and uses it pretty often. It is easy to use and melts much slower so it doesn't distort the drink as much/as quickly. Would recommend this for anyone to have handy in their at home bar!4
The idea is wonderful just have to make sure this will fit in your favorite drinking glass. Just the right amount of ice keeps the glass cold and the scotch too. Bought another one for a friend for a gift hope she likes it too.
It takes some trial and error to know the exact fill level, and don't expect crystal clear ice balls. But otherwise, my bf was happy to receive this for his whiskey drinks.4
Someone got me this as a gift....perfect for a whiskey lover who doesn't want a watered down drink. If the thought of ANY water scares you, opt for the whiskey stones instead.4
awesome product idea but i found that the balls melt fast in your drink also a tip for them freezing fast is to use hot water4
These iceball makers work great, and are perfect for keeping a cocktail chilled without over-diluting. Once people try them, they adore them, so I can never have enough! Plus, they look slick :)5
