Unlike the charcoal you toss in a grill, activated charcoal—also known as activated carbon—has been treated with oxygen to remove dirt, debris, and pollution deep beneath the skin's surface. And that's just the magical ingredient in this hard-working mask. Harnessing the purifying power of natural charcoal, it gets rids of pore-clogging impurities revealing a more radiant complexion. Still not totally convinced? Read more about its good-for-you benefits people have been using for ages.
I have acne-prone skin, even still at 28 years-old. (Genetics are swell.) Anyway, I'm always on the lookout for any skincare product that will improve my acne without drying my skin out. (It's just a cruel joke to have acne and forehead wrinkles at the same time.) Anyway, I put this bad boy on last night and the first thing I noticed was the intense tingle. It feel like someone was blowing their Listerine breath on my face. (That was meant to sound more pleasant than it probably did.) It got a little intense, but once the product started to dry the intensity came down a notch. And after the rinse, I could SEE the tiny blackheads between my eyebrows had vanished. Long story short, this works. Be sure to throw a good moisturizer on overnight. You will wake up with brand new(ish) skin. You're welcome.5
I feel like I was one of the unlucky few for whom this product just did not agree.
I started using this mask a few times in one week and in a couple days I started seeing way more new breakouts than before (and my skin had been pretty clear for a while). I took a break and waited for it to clear up and then several weeks later when I saw the beginnings of a new breakout, I gave this product another shot BUT as a spot-treatment tool (so not all over my face) and it did a really good job for treating that one area.
For people with sensitive skin, I would recommend trying it out first before buying the full product. Also, if a full face mask doesn't work, use this for spot treatment.
This product initally worked well but then my breakouts started. I normally have very small blemishs or blackheads. After I used the Orgins mask, I have 4 cystic pimples.2
I bought this full size without sampling it first due to the rave reviews. So much regret. I've tried using it three times and each time it makes me break out SO BADLY which is very rare for me. Right after washing it off, your skin is really soft. 12 hours later, pimples everywhere. I have pretty normal to dry skin so I was surprised by these results.2
Not a fan of this stuff. I tried it three times and each time I broke out. My skin is sensitive to this brand2
This charcoal mask belongs in every bathroom! I had previously researched activated charcoal in skin care and was impressed by its many benefits. I was really excited to purchase this mask, especially since it's an Origins product. It definitely dries with a very "tight" feeling, but washes off fairly easily. It left my skin feeling clean and I'm already looking forward to my next masking! As someone who tends to have more sensitive skin, I'm very happy to have found a mask that is so good in removing impurities without the irritation.5
I wish that it also came in a peel but the mask actually leaves your skin feeling clean and healthy.4
I use this mask at least once a week and it is incredible. It helps clear up breakouts and makes your skin really soft. I highly recommend for anybody with oily skin also!5
I have oily and acne prone skin- this mask really does wonders when I'm having a break out!5
First, I had to apply so many times before it covered my face as dark as it did on the models. Then This product hurt my face a lot. It was burning very unpleasantly. It made my face feel softer, but not enough for me to do it again.3
