2016 InStyle Best Beauty Buys winner!
Unlike the charcoal you toss in a grill, activated charcoal—also known as activated carbon—has been treated with oxygen to remove dirt, debris, and pollution deep beneath the skin's surface. And that's just the magical ingredient in this hard-working mask. Harnessing the purifying power of natural charcoal, it gets rids of pore-clogging impurities revealing a more radiant complexion. Still not totally convinced? Read more about its good-for-you benefits people have been using for ages.
This is a great mask. You can definitely feel it working. I used it mostly for acne and it cleared everything. I would buy it again!5
I have sensitive skin and found this product too abrasive for me. While I do not mind some tingling, I found the product to be uncomfortable.3
I've used this product a few times now, once a week and can't tell if it works. I wash my face twice daily and my skin isn't too challenging, but I live in a city and commute on foot, so I was hoping for some visible improvement. It's not so ineffective that I'm ready to quit and return, but I'd say it doesn't win on "wow" factor.3
I've really enjoyed using this product. My only complaint is about the burning sensation that's present for the first five minutes. Otherwise this product left my skin soft and clear.4
I have fairly normal skin, but every now and then I'll get a bad breakout that needs to be nipped in the bud. This is my secret weapon: I wash my face with hot water to get the pores opened up, and then (without drying my face off) put a liberal amount of this mask on and let it dry. It helps me clear up my breakouts in no time, and it doesn't get overly tight and uncomfortable. It's the only mask I need!5
I really like this mask. It is soothing and leaves my skin feeling clean and smooth. Although it doesn't clear out pores in an intense way (as others have noted), it is a good basic mask that goes on easy and comes off easily as well. Not super messy which is always appreciated.4
This charcoal mask by origins, is amazing. It was the first one I used. I have found better ones but this is one that I do keep in my shower. It really does soak up all the impurities and dead skin and leave your skin looking more radiant.5
I use this at least two times a week & it leaves my skin feeling wonderful & clean but not to dry.5
but it doesn't do anything miraculous. i like how my skin feel afterwards and am happy that it doesn't irritate my super sensitive skin. however, i bought it bc i was hoping it would help clear out some clogged pores i have in the t-zone area and i haven't noticed that it made any observable difference.3
This mask makes my skin feel incredibly clean and purified. And it dries relatively quickly so I'm not waiting around all night. The next morning my skin always looks a bit brighter. The only reason I gave it four stars is because it does tend to give my skin a burning sensation as it dries, and leaves it a bit red. I only use it at night, not before going out somewhere because of the reddening effect. But I do have slightly sensitive skin, so it probably wouldn't affect everyone like that.4
