Anyone with a smart phone can track down a Michelin-star restaurant in Paris or point you in the direction of the Forbidden City. But this slim, deeply researched line of guidebooks—don’t expect maps, illustrations, or any of the otherwise Google-able info you’d find stuffed in fatter versions—specializes in the type of locales known only to the natives. It’s the kind of unabashedly opinionated editorial advice that will send you happily flying solo. And it’s executed with so much brevity and class that the guides can fit comfortably into a pocket or your carry-on.
I received the New York city guide, and live in Los Angeles. Would have preferred to have one I would be more likely to use, but definitely look forward to having it on hand when the time comes to travel to NYC.3
This thing is so hard to decipher I didn't even look at it more than once. its just a garbled mess of information, and the paper is not soft enough to wipe my hind quarters with.1
This was for LAX- not too useful considering I dont plan on traveling here anytime soon. Versatile products are much better!1
My copy was for Chicago, so it's seems only useful if I traveled to Chicago. It does seem well detailed and the researched appeared well done.5
I got this Chicago Luxe city guide in my birchbox. its a cute handy tool that I will probably use on my next trip to Chicago.2
I got one for Chicago. It has lots of places to visit wish I had gotten one for my own neighborhood though.3
i ended up giving this to a colleague of mine that was headed to NYC. He wasn't too impressed with it as a lot of the places listed were out of his budget. I would probably purchase or borrow a different pocket guide if I needed something.3
Why would I want a travel guide for LA? Do people go there on vacation?? I would have preferred something a little more intesting.3
I live in Manhattan and received the NYC city guide. A lot of what it contained, I already knew. Probably good for tourists.3
We received the Chicago guide in the subscription box for my 18 yr old son. It's a great little guide and we will definitely hold on to it, since we are planning a trip to the East Coast hopefully next year, with Chicago as one of our stops. We live in SoCal, so we might buy the LA one, just to see what it recommends. Thank you!3
