We know you love diving into samples as much as we do, and the Mystery Sample Pack gives you the chance to try some of our favorite products. Receive two samples for free by spending $35+ on any full-size products from the shop. It includes one deluxe sample and one standard sample that we’re especially excited about right this minute, and here’s the really fun part: Their identities will remain secret until you receive your order. Alternatively, you can purchase this mysterious sample duo on its own for $10.
I received a sample of Viva La Juicy Gold Coulture perfume and SeaRx. I am excited to get the free samples, but would have been disappointed to have paid for them. Especially considering I pay $10 for the monthly subscription and get 5 samples. Hence the star rating.4
I add this on to my cart every time I buy something from Birchbox, and the first time my samples were pretty decent but since then they are just foil packets of cheap shampoo and lotion you can get at any hotel for free. I keep hoping for something nice. :(1
I love my birchbox subscription, but this mystery sample pack was clearly the leftovers. Lots of foil lotion packets. bummer!2
Mine was free with purchase and contained 0.17 fl oz Jouer Luminizing Mouisture Tint Sunscreen in golden and a Gilchrest & Soames Spa Therapy Body Wash (I think it was 1 oz). If you're curious, the Jouer product has a value of $4 and the Gilchrest & Soames of ~$2 so although that's less than the mystery sample pack price of $10, these products were both new to me and this was a fun gift with purchase. The sample sizes were deluxe; they are generous enough in size that I can use them both enough times to really form an opinion about that products.3
Absolutely loved everything in my first birch box that I received! The conditioning spray was amazing! The spray that was in the red bottle smells so so good and helps my hair look healthy even after I style it!4
I received a sample of serum (tiny) and a sample of perfume (which I had already received in one of my previous boxes).
Definitely not worth the $10 on its own -- maybe worth it if you spend $35 + (aka free).
Not sure I would pay $10 for the samples I received. I've gotten multiple sample packs over the many times I have purchased things from birch box and have never really been super impressed with anything I've received. Not the same quality as what is in your box :)3
I got a nail polish and lip gloss. The lip gloss was alright but nothing spectacular. The nail polish... Eh? It was a terrible color for me and I don't paint my nails often. I guess it was alright.4
These sample packs are hit and miss. I would NEVER pay $10 for one, and I personally don't think there are $10 worth of samples included. I did get a mascara in one, which was nice, but otherwise it's usually more of the same samples I just got in my monthly Birchbox. Wish they'd mix it up a little.3
Why would you complain about free samples? I've received a mystery pack three times with orders; I add it to my cart every time I start shopping. Nothing I have gotten was a duplicate (yet) but I would not be upset with getting a sample twice (it's FREE). I'm very pleased with this cart add-on and thankful it doesn't use up my one promo code for the order.5
