This ringlet-loving sampler is your chance to try DevaCurl’s innovative curl care system. Each trio includes a creamy lather-free cleanser, a hydrating conditioner, and a lightweight, curl-defining gel. All three work with your hair’s natural texture, so you’re left with soft, shiny spirals without that pesky halo of frizz.
I found this product effective in keeping my curls defined after a perm. I have naturally straight hair, and never had the use for deep conditioners or styling gel before. I wasn't sure what products to use after the perm...fortunately I received samples of this to try. The conditioner kept my hair frizz free, and the light defining gel restored the curls which would get dull and straightened out in the shower. Not sure if I will purchase the shampoo though, since I prefer the lathering/foaming kind.5
This is my favorite shampoo ever! I have tried so many different brands and techniques to tame my wild curls, and no shampoo has set the bar like this stuff. It's sulfate free, so it won't strip the oils out, and it smells awesome. It was a little scary to use when I first bought it, as it made my hair feel "hard" in the shower, but I guess it's just your hair acting surprised that you put a nice product in it. :)
I've tried both the Low-poo and the No-poo, and I prefer the low-poo (the difference is in the lather: low-lather vs. no-lather). After using it for more than a year, I can never go back to a sulfate based shampoo.
Used all 3 steps of the system, and it made my hair feel heavy and thick (not in a good way). Yes, it solved my frizz problem, but it weighed my hair down.2
To clarify, firstly: I have thick, wavy hair with some ringlets, not cork screw curls. The "no-poo" shampoo smells incredibly fresh and clean, and even if you're opposed to or bothered by the idea of a lather free shampoo, try it. My scalp feels wonderfully clean. The hydrating conditioner has a different but equally lovely scent, and you can feel the quality of the product as you run it through your hair. The gel is another winner- no crunchy curls, smells yummy, and seriously, my hair looks even curlier than usual. A bigger bonus: my hair is also soft and shiny after using the system. Try it, you are going to LOVE it.5
I really liked this 3-step system. It was really interesting to try the no-lather shampoo. I loved the gel and all three worked together really well. A must try for curly hair!5
I have very curly hair so I was excited to see this in my birchbox. I think it worked very well as I am always looking for the next best thing for my curls.5
1) Shampoo: Nice rose scent. Very creamy texture. Helped soften my hair and did leave me with a nice curl pattern.
2) Conditioner: Nice lemony scent. Creamy texture, rinsed well while leaving hair soft. Left a nice soft feel and curl pattern. I was surprised at the different scents of the shampoo and conditioner but both were pleasant.
3) Gel: Not for me. I prefer more definition, but it was a nice gel. Left my hair soft and touchable. Worth a try if you like gels for curls. I tend to use creams and sprays. Nice fragrance. Not at all sticky.
I'm not a fan of the no poo thing. My hair is incredibly fine and over conditioning actually creates a ton of frizz for me. Nice product just not for me.3
The scents of this product are amazing! It's like having aromatherapy in the shower. Normally, I don't care for the scents of shampoo and conditioner, but these products were wonderfully scented.
In terms of performance for my curly hair, I have had better luck keeping my hair curly with other products, but I LOVED the scents of Devacurl!
This trio set it phenomenal! The shampoo and conditioner leave your hair silky soft and smell great. The styling gel is the real winner, though. Except for when it was really short, I've never seen my hair this curly! I'll be buying the gel soon, and I highly recommend it to any other curly-haired folks.5
