An ace beauty primer is an essential beauty investment that will pay off in dividends. Our current fave is this innovative stick primer from the experts at Benefit. The easy-to-use applicator glides directly onto skin and leaves behind a nifty gel that grabs on to and locks your makeup. Even more miraculous, the longlasting formula stays put for an awe-inspiring 15 hours.
This product really is worth its weight in gold! It holds on to my foundation like nothing else I have tried! I put it up close to my eyes to get my eyeliner to stay on longer as well. It goes on a bit thick feeling, but once you apply your make up like normal, you soon forget all about that. I read somewhere that it dries out easily, so be sure to put that small white cap back on after applying!5
I was eager to try this primer, but I wasn't very pleased with the results. I tend to wear light makeup, so I'm not used to actually feeling stuff on my face. This primer feels very waxy and heavy and makes it hard to move your face throughout the day without noticing (eg. smiling, talking). However, this stuff DOES live up to its name. My makeup definitely stayed on all day. I think it's better for someone who wears more layers of product.3
I love this primer. At 1st it was a little award learning how to use it where it blends in easily with my moisturizer & foundation. I blend the primer in with my finger tips & only use it in ny t-zone area & where my pores are the largest.. Avoid eyebrows, around the eye area & hair & neck lines. Use moisturizer in those avoided areas & blend in together. Also I use it on my lips & the fine lines around my mouth. It seems to keep my lipstick on & in place longer. I noticed I have less break outs after the 1st week of using this.5
I received a tiny sample of this a while back and I love it! I have combination skin and I glide this over my dry areas after I use smashbox's photo finish pore minimizing primer on my oily areas. It doesn't matter how dry and sometimes flaky my skin is, this primer smooths it out! That being said it gets a little oily as the day progresses...4
I have very oily skin, and I find it so frustrating that sometimes I buy something for dry skin, hoping that it'll work this time. This is one of those products. My makeup went squishy the second I put it on over this, even on my jaw, which is relatively dry. In 15 minutes (let alone hours) my greasy nose was a mess and powder was no help. It felt like I was wearing glue, except I wondered if glue might work better for my skin. I tried putting it on in a variety of ways, more or less, I wore it for longer, tried it a couple months later...nothing changed. I really, really wanted to like this product, but it was not for me.2
I tried this a little while ago. It felt nice on my skin but since I have such oily skin it didn't help with that. My r-zone for more oily through out the day. And I didn't notice a difference in how my makeup lasted.2
I sampled this item and foudn it made my skin feel a little tight. Some may like that, I dont. I wouldnt purchase this item, but I do love thier Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! - Ivory :)2
This is a perfect first step in your makeup routine! It keeps your makeup looking flawless all day! My daughter discovered it in my makeup bag who performs in her high school colorguard, who are quite the makeup divas and it makes her makeup stay put the whole time... I'm not sure I'll get it back ...5
I've found that this works well as a primer if I apply it with a foundation brush, not the stick, and not my fingers. My skin also needs to be well-moisturized beforehand. However, I don't need to use much primer of any kind, nor do I need to use much foundation or powder. It works well for me but I don't think it would be good for people who need full coverage with their foundation or people with oily or dry skin.
So basically, it'll help you stay flawless ... if you're already pretty close to it to begin with. Benefit can do better.
I love primer. This is not a primer but more of a greasy stick. I am very disappointed with it. I would not buy it again...ever.1
