If your skin has an Edward Cullen-like pallor, it’s time to consider a sunless tanner. But be careful, eager beaver: Not all self-tanners are created equal (we don’t know about you, but we’d rather be pale than orange). We’re particularly smitten with these easy-to-use, travel-friendly towelettes, which give you a natural-looking faux glow—no sun exposure required.
The product was way too small to cover a large part of the body. I was very disappointed.1
I don't use self-tanning products (although I have tried some other brands in the past with mixed results), and was not excited to receive one in this month's box, since it's not something that interests or benefits me. This particular one did nothing special for me, and it is not something I'll be purchasing at any point in time. I wish I had thought to pass it on to a friend rather than trying it myself, because I'm sure it would have been more appreciated! Oh well, looking forward to September's box.1
I'm as fair as they come and I LOVE self tanners. I made sure my skin was clean and exfoliated before I used the towel and much to my dismay, it did nothing. I saw little to no color at all! Total bummer. Oh well, I'll stick to my St. Tropez.1
I'm naturally tan, so have no need to use a self-tanner. I let my mom use them, and she said the sample wasn't adequate to cover her whole body.1
Again, another disappointment for me with the August box. I just don't use self-tanning products. I gave this sample to a friend and she really liked it. Just not for me..1
I am still trying to figure out how this wound up in my box. I do not whatsoever use self-tanner, but anyway I gave it to a good friend of mine whose complexion is naturally olive to begin with so it did give her a hint of sun kissed-ness and she was happy not to have sad looking legs on her vacation.1
My skin really isn't too terribly fair, but this product made me look like a pumpkin.1
just didn't work for me... color was off and not at all natural1
When I got this product I was excited, mostly because my experience with other tan towels was bad. This experience wasn't much better.
1) It didn't smell any worse or better than other tanning products I've tried. I don't think the ones that ever smelled "good" were effective.
2) One tan towel is not enough for your entire body. Thankfully I had read some reviews before using it and just used it on my upper body. I have some issues with getting my neck tan (it just won't tan in 'real life') so this actually helped with the weird white neck I have. That being said, the towels are expensive and having to use two or more to get a tan just isn't cost effective.
3) The concept that I need to buy TWO products (Birchbox suggests if you "miss a spot" to buy Tan Towel's spray to fill it in) is ridiculous. The streaks left on my arms and my stomach were gross and I was kind of embarrassed by them. Thankfully it didn't happen on my neck.
I wish I would have had a larger sample. I'm not really keen on only doing half of my body. Maybe in the winter it would have worked.1
