If your skin has an Edward Cullen-like pallor, it’s time to consider a sunless tanner. But be careful, eager beaver: Not all self-tanners are created equal (we don’t know about you, but we’d rather be pale than orange). We’re particularly smitten with these easy-to-use, travel-friendly towelettes, which give you a natural-looking faux glow—no sun exposure required.
I don't use self tanner but I gave this a try. Seemed a little streaky but most likely my error of not knowing how to do the best way. With more practice I think this would be a good product if you like tan products.2
Great idea for a self tanner, helps to make an even tan without splotches. Will be buying in the future to keep my glow all winter and for my wedding in November.4
This was my very first Birchbox and of all the samples I received this is the one I expected least from. As a UK exile in the US I have milk pale skin and even tanning beds used to take five sessions to even give me a bit of brown and I gave them up because I hated the idea of unnecessary wrinkles. I have used self tanning moisturizers before with little effect. So I expected nada from this. And when I actually got some colour off these I was stunned. Not deep brown, I am never going to have that, but a nice glow. Will be buying more, and more, and more.....10 towelettes is less than 1 tanning bed session so that is a rather sweet deal too.5
I've heard terrible things about towelettes, but this product was actually not streaky and looked natural. The only thing I had a hard time with is the application. You are supposed to move the towelette in a circular motion around skin, but the towelette wants to just roll up under your hand as you rub with it so you have to keep adjusting it. I'm not sure this is a better way to apply tanner than other methods.4
I prefer a spray self tanner. The towelettes were easy to use but hard to get even. But I did like the glow they gave my skin.3
This tan towel is a great idea and it is not that it didn't work, it is just not something that I would ever use. I am sure other people really like this product though because it is so convenient.1
I'm a pretty pale person who easily burns and despise tanning beds. Self-tanners are a great option, but not something I've ever used. I used the towelette and didn't really notice a difference at first, but then notice a spot I missed and realized how pale I actually am. However, it still didn't add a lot of color. I might consider using the tantowel again if I find a good deal on them.3
This is one of the more natural looking colors I have seen. Good scent - didn't have that tanner smell. I must not have been as careful as I thought was being as I did apparently miss a couple of spots on my legs. As much color as this gives after one application it was very noticeable.4
I've only used a self-tanner once before (a lotion, can't remember which one) and it did absolutely nothing, and I gave up on self-tanners. This one, I think I can actually see a difference! Maybe I'm just easily impressed, but I think it's pretty cool hahahah. Also, the tan looks very natural, not orange at all. It'd be nice of the product were cheaper, so they could've given us a full-body sample instead of a half-body one :P4
I love this concept, but didn't like this product. It seemed to be easy to apply and I liked that it dried SUPER fast and it felt like it went on evenly. I did my arms and legs only, and I still felt it was a bit dried out by the time I got to my legs. When I woke up the next day, I was totally uneven and blotchy. I was late for work trying to scrub it off. The color was fantastic, but it's gotta be even for me to use it. Won't use again.2
