If your skin has an Edward Cullen-like pallor, it’s time to consider a sunless tanner. But be careful, eager beaver: Not all self-tanners are created equal (we don’t know about you, but we’d rather be pale than orange). We’re particularly smitten with these easy-to-use, travel-friendly towelettes, which give you a natural-looking faux glow—no sun exposure required.
I am fair and like to have a little bit of color during the summer -nothing dark and far from extreme. I use self-tanner on my face, chest, legs and feet. I used the half body towelette I received in my July box on my legs. The towelette was barely enough to cover both legs but it got the job done. There was no self-tanner smell, so that was a bonus. As with all self-tanning towelettes, it dried very quickly.
The next morning, I was left with believable color. It was a little light for my taste. I wish it was just a smidge darker. I also had a little bit of streaking, although that could have been user error!
There really wasn't enough of a sample to give a good, solid opinion. I just can't say that I love it.3
I do not use self tanners, but my roommate does and always looks so tan and natural. I figured that when I got this sample I might as well try it. Well, that was a waste of time, I didnt even notice a different. I was imagining myself to be beautifully bronzed....oh well!1
I'm not much of a self-tanner fan. I always look orange if I use it. I received this in my monthly box as a sample and I like the packaging. MY sister however raved about these things. She uses them all year.1
I feel a little silly due to this trial. See, I chose to use it on my legs. Problem? I did my right leg first, then the left. Most of the product apparently got used on that first leg, not the second, so now I'm walking around with one leg darker than the other. EEK. (Eh, no biggie, wore a hippie skirt today and will exfoliate it off). I think for a truer sampling review, either stick to one limb on purpose to try it out, or make sure you have 2 fresh packets, one for each limb, to get an even color. The scent was really nice and I found application easy. I did not use gloves, and just washed my hands well after application, without any issues.3
The towlette form works really well to spread the color, and the color looks good on skin without looking weird or unnatural. It would be very useful in cases where you didn't have sun for a long time!4
I really don't like self tanners. This one smelled terrible and was itchy.1
I used to be big in to the whole tanning thing, but I'm trying to appreciate my skin for it's naturally pasty self (still working on that), so I've steered clear of self tanners. I like the idea of a towelette, but just can't get past the smell. Think I'll just continue on my merry pasty path.3
I absolutely love using this product before the beach. I like to protect my skin from the sun and still have a glow, and these towelettes give me a natural-looking tan every time!5
Harsh sunlight always gives me a burn, so I try to avoid direct exposure. In the summer, I feel silly without any color, and I've been searching for the right product for a while. I love the way TanTowel looks on my skin! The application is super easy, and doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy.5
