It’s hard to recall our lives pre-BB Creams. We had to employ an army of products to achieve the effect of this single, elegant formula. Stila’s entry into the BB Cream market is as impressive as you’d expect, given the brand’s award-winning track record. Their deceptively light formula has 10—count ‘em, 10—functions, from antiaging treatment and inflammation-reducer to sheer tint and SPF 30. It also has been shown to boost collagen production and reduce the appearance of wrinkles by up to 67 percent. As if that weren’t enough, it blends beautifully and gives skin a radiant finish.
Not fond of this BB at all. I have light skin and this BB turns me into an oompa loomp! It does have some illuminating qualities but I hardly think a glowing oompa loompa is appealing any other day than Halloween.1
While this product is advertised as a 10-in-1 Beauty Balm, I would have to refute at least half of those claims. The product itself isn't of low quality; it didn't break me out or cause any allergic reactions, hence the two stars. In every other area, though, I feel like it's a pretty huge failure.
Firstly, it provides almost zero coverage. Even though it is tinted from the tube, it blends away to almost nothing—I wouldn't even qualify this as "sheer" coverage. It does blend in well (no pilling or clumping), but I wouldn't call it a tinted moisturizer either since it isn't even all that moisturizing. The only redeeming properties it has is:
1) It really is illuminating. I haven't tried the original or bronzed formulations, but this stuff definitely gives your entire face a dewy glow, which sensitive skin types may really appreciate. However, if you're normal or combination/oily, I'd suggest avoiding this because even when it is completely dried, it never really "sets," maintaining a dewy, wet finish that needs to be set with powder.
2) It contains SPF 30, so it's basically just a sunscreen (with no pigmentation or coverage). However, to get the full benefits of the physical SPF in this, you would need to use a dime-size amount of product, which is pretty large for a typical BB cream (usually I'd just use a pea-size amount of my favorite Korean BB for coverage). If you're planning on using this as your sole SPF provider, make sure you're using a sufficient amount to keep your skin protected.
I would recommend using this under your regular foundation/BB cream as an additional sunscreen step with a dewy finish, but don't buy this thinking it can serve as a BB cream with any sort of coverage.
The texture of this illuminator was like putting on a thick glue on my face, with hardly any benefits. It looked fine for a little while, but it faded off quickly. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with it, but there definitely wasn't anything great about it.3
I was looking for a BB cream that would provide good enough coverage to use in place of foundation on some days. However, I found this product doesn't cover as well as my drugstore brand. I usually use both BB creams or use foundation on top of. I may try this over foundation to get the illuminating effect it promises. I am 48 with light/medium skin and have the uneven skin tone, slight redness but not many wrinkles (yet!).
I will stick with the drugstore brand when this runs out.
it not too glittery on the skin, feels really soft and watery when applying to the kin, and it does keep make up last long. I use it on top of my foundation to give me that glow effect.3
Ive been using this for a few months now and its only ok for me. Ive used other ones and this was is nothing special. I have dry skin with larger pores around my nose and I feel like this just makes me skin look caked on. Not a huge fan.3
It has a mild shimmer, which I like. I think I chose the wrong color. It was really yellow on my skin. It is also really sticky and a little greasy feeling. My acne got worse when I used it. Probably a good product for normal to dry skin, but my combination skin just hates this stuff.3
Heard great things about this BB but was not impressed. Thank goodness I got a sample from Sephora before purchasing the entire product. Goes on smoothly, color made my face appear tanner which was great and a coworker even commented that my freckles/sun spots appeared to be lighter and not as noticeable. It is not sparkly (don't like sparkly products). Now for the bad, for me it just never seemed to absorb in. I felt like my face was oily the entire day. I could wipe it off on my hands if I touched my face. I also felt like I was shiny, like I needed a powder to absorb it.3
Too light for my skin. I tried this bc I thought it would be comparable to something ive used before. I wish I had just stuck with the other brand.3
I liked this enough that when I got a sample, I ordered the full sized product. My skin can get a little oily with this, so I use an oil controlling primer under it. No visible improvement in wrinkles or fine lines after 5 weeks of use.4
