While ‘wash and wear’ is fine and dandy for some, curly hair girls know that it takes a bit more effort to get gorgeous hair every day. To that end, Ouidad’s Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel is a lifesaver, with a unique formula that responds (read: defrizzes) to humidity. We love how the formula tames frizz and coaxes unruly curls into shape without leaving them crunchy.
I live in the South, where we suffer from gross humidity about 10 months a year, and this product did not pass the test. The only way I could get pretty, soft curls was if I stayed inside a well air-conditioned house until my hair was dry. If I tried to venture out into the humidity within and hour and a half of showering, my hair was a total frizz ball. I added a layer of anti-frizz hair spray and that seemed to help a lot but alone, this product was "meh."3
This gel is runny - more like a liquid. It doesn't take much though to go a long way. It helps to cut down on the frizz, helps keep the hair from gaining volume throughout the day. I live in the Southeast US, and this product works during the hot, humid summer months.5
Too strong for me, but is great for my sons thick curly hair. It does the job but it's thick and heavy.4
Leaves hair curly and frizz free. Doesn't weigh it down.4
Haven't used it yet but I love my birchbox and that's all5
Well, for starters this product is discontinued! Although this isn't available anymore, it wasn't a bad product. It was runny, which I kind of liked because it didn't feel like it was going to cake onto my hair. It also didn't make my hair feel like straw, and my curls stayed soft. I also liked that even after messing with my hair and scrunching it around, the frizz didn't get out of control.4
This product was nice and light. I would probably combine it with a curling gel next time for fuller curls. But all in all and great product, smells good, doesn't weigh the hair down and helps with the frizz.4
Stopped my hair from frizzing on super humid days, but seemed to have a bit of a tangling effect on my ringlets. Will use but need another product to hydrate to compensate.4
It worked nice and I quite enjoyed it. Will have to try it a few more time once it gets hotter to really see how it holds up.4
I've tried this before and it's not my favorite. Maybe I'll save some for the summer.3
