While ‘wash and wear’ is fine and dandy for some, curly hair girls know that it takes a bit more effort to get gorgeous hair every day. To that end, Ouidad’s Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel is a lifesaver, with a unique formula that responds (read: defrizzes) to humidity. We love how the formula tames frizz and coaxes unruly curls into shape without leaving them crunchy.
I got this as a sample in my birchbox. It worked well against the hot humidity in Texas.3
I tried this product twice: Once in the tedious fashion it calls for to apply in the "rake and shake" way. To me it was too long a process for me as I don't usually take much time with doing my hair. This way seemed to hold my curls a bit better but it felt heavy and thick on my thinner curly hair. I also just tried applying it in my hands and "shuffled" it through my wet hair like I do other products. This was not effective for me as well, I had a lot a frizz and again the heaviness of it caused my hair to hang and straighten more then help my curls. There wasn't much of scent, whether you like that or not. The sample is a very nice size though, kudos to that.3
I have very natural curly hair. So I was very excited to try this because it's very hard to manage it in the summer with the humidity. Well it just didn't live up to the hype. I was disappointed to say the least. I don't have time to sit in the AC until my hair is completely dry for this product to work.3
I have super thick dry curly hair. The amount I would have to use would be insane due to the thin texture of this product-showed no results. Don't waste your time, find mortician curl cream and you'll be good.3
This did a pretty good job of defining curls, but also made my hair stiff. I might save it for humid days when frizz control matters more to me than softness.3
I live in CA now, so the humidity isn't my problem anymore. I wish I had been able to sample this when I lived in GA! It works ok, but I wouldn't buy or recommend this product knowing there are other curly haired products on the market that work much better.3
I wanted to like this product, especially with summer coming up and living with curly hair in the Florida heat! However, I found it really hard to figure out the instructions... the whole 'rake and shake' technique was a little confusing and after trying it found it to be a little too much work than I like to put into my summer hair routine. I will continue to use this product and see if its worth adding to my routine.3
Although my hair was less frizzy I feel that the gel did not hold the curls.3
They product seemed fine but maybe a little drying.
l blow dry my hair and never wear it curly so I really don't use curl gel
I tried the instructions on the bottle, and it just didn't do my hair any favors. My hair generally responds best to mousse as opposed to gels, so that could have been the problem.3
